Would you guys trade Gobert for the number 1 overall pick? Not saying wolves will have the pick but just trying to see how much Gobert is valued by Jazz fans.

Absolutely not. Gobert is a game changer, and those only come around so often.

I wouldn't.
Not only because he has somewhat proven himself already. But he fits in time/age wise. He has a serious kind of arrogant **** attitude I absolutely love. I think the chip on his shoulder is rubbing of on the other players. With Favors and Hayward being sort of soft spoken and kind of nice guys they needed someone with attitude.

Hell no. Gobert would likely be a top 2 pick in any draft knowing what he can do defensively.
sipclip - "Even though I love what I have seen from Mitchell if you were to ask anyone if they would rather have Booker and the 24th pick or Mitchell they would all take Booker and the pick."

It's very telling that Jazz fans are saying that they would not trade Rudy for the #1 pick, isn't it? The Jazz have never picked first. Not once. I would probably do it...maybe...perhaps?

Re: Official Utah Jazz Trade Ideas Thread
If the Timberwolves called up and asked to trade Wiggens for Gobert I might do that. But I see no reason to trade Gobert who is a beast and then draft a Center prospect in Okafor.
If there was a SF/SG who seemed like they could possibly be a once in a generation type player then you might make the trade. But no need to trade one great center for another great center.

When the Clippers are eliminated in 1st/2nd round of playoffs:
JJ Redick + Spencer Hawes for 1st round pick (and maybe Joe Ingles)
This will allow Clippers to regain cap flexibility and the 1st rounder.
or
When Houston gets eliminated early:
Trevor Ariza for 1st round pick and the 1st round pick from OKC
Daryl Morey loves accumulating assets to strike a big deal
JJ Redick + Spencer Hawes for 1st round pick (and maybe Joe Ingles)
This will allow Clippers to regain cap flexibility and the 1st rounder.

The Clippers deal is bad. Not a fan of Redick. He's one-dimensional and not nearly good enough in that one dimension to make up for everything he's lacking.
Ariza is an interesting idea but I sure wouldn't give up this year's 1st for him.
I think Dennis Lindsey with rather keep his accumulated assets to strike a big deal instead of helping Morey to do so...

Re: Official Utah Jazz Trade Ideas Thread
The idea of trading picks for established players makes a lot of sense and Lindsey has explicitly talked about it before. Those two players don't make any sense though. If the Clippers trade away JJ Reddick, they instantly need a guy like JJ Reddick. It's counterintuitive to their current position. Same goes for Ariza and the Rockets.
There are a lot of guys that the Jazz could target with a pick or combination of picks. Think firesales like Denver, or places with crowded rotations. Just anywhere where a pick would be more valuable than the player. LAC and HOU are focused on winning a championship. They need those guys more than they need a pick.
Ty Lawson and Taj Gibson are the two that immediately came to mind for me, both of whom that spent a lot of time in the rumor mill.

I posted a trade idea for Harrison Barnes in the Trades forum:
Utah 2015 pick+(OKC2017 or GSW2017) for Harrison Barnes, but the consensus seems to be that's giving up too much.
What if we do just the OKC2017 and GSW2017 picks(could put a lottery protection on the GSW pick)?

The second trade makes much mores sense because Barnes will need an extension. I just don't know if the Warriors would want to move Barnes. They'll probably want to move Lee or Igoudala and extend Barnes instead.

Re: Official Utah Jazz Trade Ideas Thread
Would anyone consider trading for Eric Gordon?
Would give us a legit three point shooter who is a good pass of the ball. Feel he could be had for cheap when you factor in the injuries he has had and what the Pelicans are paying him, which I think the Jazz could afford to pay him next season.

He has a player option for next year(15.5M). With his value right now, I don't see him leaving that money on the table. And after that he's a free agent. I don't like such a deal... It's hell of an expensive 1 year rental that would preclude us from doing anything in free agency. It will be 1 year patch that won't solve anything for us long-term(and we'd have to waive Booker in order to have the capspace to do it).

What about the OKC 2015 1st, and LAL 1st from the 76ers for the 2015 Jazz first?

Quite like this idea.
I think its likely that DL goes after a FA this off season (presumably a shooting guard), which with this draft having depth for the wing positions by trading the pick we could prevent a log jam whilst gaining future assets so that come next season we can revisit areas of the squad that need improving. Which we could either use those assets to go after a ready made star in 2016 or the next big thing like a Jaylen Brown or Ben Simmons.

LAL 1st from the 76ers probably has better value than Jazz 2015 first. Our 2015 pick is likely going to be 10-12. Lakers pick isn't likely to be lower.

Agreed but who is the target - Wesley Mathews?

Wes just tore his Achilles.
Not sure how that affects the free agent market in general, but I think that injury probably cost Matthews $20M or so.
