What if: we kept Dantley

Post#1 » by dautjazz » Tue Jul 26, 2016 6:13 pm

Dantley was a very good player for another 3 years on the Pistons. Had we held on to Dantley, do you think we could accomplished anything with him?

1988-89, Dantley was still a very good player, the Jazz went 51 wins. Imagine adding Dantley to that team.

Another thing that is so confusing to me is, when Dantley was traded, Malone just came off his rookie season, he still wasn't a megastar, but by 1989 he was awesome, and Stockton was putting up 17/14 type of averages.

bailey and hansen wudda taken the biggest dip. but perhaps they would have solidified our bench. Maybe dantley cudda helped Jazz beat that Laker team? but sloan took over not long after that. If dantley couldnt handle layden, he for sure wouldn't have handled sloan.

I could see us making a western conference finals trip or possibly the nba finals if there was no attitude problems but we know that wasn't the case. Jazz general manager Dave Checketts had this to say about the trade - `The biggest benefit to us in the Adrian Dantley trade was addition by subtraction. We knew we had to get rid of him and we were never so happy to get rid of a guy in the history of the franchise.`` God damn, savage

Mind boggling the former two time NBA scoring champ now spends his time as a crossing guard/high schol ref. No wonder he wanted to get paid more back than.

WTH I thought he was working as an assistant coach for the Nuggets. Had no idea he was fired a few years ago.
