Why is THT picking up his option? Is it because he knows he can't make that $$$ if he became a free agent?

Or he thinks he can increase his market value if he continues to play like he did at the end of last season.

He averaged 19, 6, and 5 during his 19 starts at the end of the season and he’s good in pick and roll, which was John Collins specialty when he put up star numbers. If THT could get to around a 34-35 percent three point shooter he would actually be perfect for what we need going forward given his age and size at the pg position.

He’s not getting 11-12 mill on the open market. He would probably get 6-7.

You are right of course but I also think Hardy & The Jazz have been good for him and at a certain point, some of these guys simply want to play, preferably for a team & coach that believes in them.

And for 4-5 million extra dollars. He’s with Klutch and they are a big market agent.

It would be cool to get a 2 guard that could defend and shoot the 3 that fits the Collins, Markannen age group. DeAnthony Melton would fit like a glove.

Desmond Bane would've fit but that's water under the bridge at this point.

Agbaji is fine for now although I'm really not as high on him as the FO seems to be. He can definitely shoot the corner 3 but not quite sold on the rest of his game quite yet. He's never going to be a playmaker and that is a little concerning considering the lack of playmaking in the frontcourt. I've heard Danny Green and Norm Powell type comparisons for him which might be accurate.

Obviously JC played well this past season but his age really isn't a fit for their timeline not to mention he's a FA.

They drafted George and who knows how he will pan out. I've heard Tony Jones say his ceiling might be a Jamal Murray type if he actually reaches his ceiling but that could take a few years. I had some concerns about his athleticism and defense in college. Hardy is going to bring him along really slowly.

I like Sexton but he's more of a combo guard and obviously not a big 2 guard.

THT I'm afraid is always going to be hampered by his lack of shooting and efficiency.

In today's NBA I think it's alot more difficult to acquire the bigs/wings so they have a leg up on figuring out this roster. They also have a ton of assets and picks left in the warchest too.

That would be Ochai Agbaji.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Some updates:
1. The Jazz guarantee Olynyk's salary for this season. He is now on a $12M expiring.
2. Clakrson opted out from his contract, as was expected.

Don't have official sources yet.

Has Clarkson opted out? I can't find that on twitter... or is that your information?

It's from the Monty Show so take it with a grain of salt.

Monty show is not reliable source of information. I'd wait on more reputable source... :meditate:

Agreed. But he has a 50% chance of being right and we have about 24 hours to find out either way.

EDIT: But it would be really funny if after saying all this stuff in the video, Clarkson eventually opted in. I wounder what the Monty Show will have to say then.

I think the deadline is today so... we have about 14-15 hours or so. We might hear about it any moment now.

I like JC a lot but I think it's time to move on. Given his age and where the Jazz are in the rebuild process I'm not enthusiastic about giving him a new deal when he's looking to make around $20M per year at least. It's time to let go of the last relic of the Dennis Lindsey era.
