The Jazz lost a little mojo, and Minnesota gained some mojo, last February with Conley, Vanderbilt and NAW trades.

The Jazz lost a little more mojo with the departure of Olynyk and Fontecchio. All of those trades made sense in the grand scheme of things, although in the short term they created setbacks.

There are 4 reasons that the rest of the season may disappoint, and it all comes down to "so it goes."

In no particular order of importance, the 4 things holding this TEAM back are:

1) John Collins, whose salary was absorbed in the space created by Conley's departure (a no-cost acquisition of swapping Conley for player 10 years younger), is a disappointment on defense and doesn't really help the flow of the offense even though his individual numbers (shooting, scoring, rebounding) seem fine. The offense just doesn't seem to run as smooth as it could, and you don't get the stops you might like, with Collins as a Small Ball Center (might be different if he played against backups and not starters) and if he passed better and moved without the ball better. That's the way the cookie crumbles.

2 & 3) Your #9 and #16 picks haven't been performing anywhere close to where you would have hoped given their opportunities. The only hope is that these college sophmore aged rookies become more acclimated and figure out a way to contribute offensively and defensively. Hendricks has yet to figure out a way to contribute offensively, plus he seems laterally slow without the ball handling skills required to be effective as an SF, and Keyonte George faces off regularly against high scoring opposing starting PGs without efficiently putting points on the Utah scoreboard (although he does generate a decent amount of assists, but with too many turnovers).

4) You don't really have a true SF on the roster other maybe newly acquired Otto Porter. For much of last night's game you had 6' 3.5" Jordan Clarkson at SF playing alongside Collin Sexton and Keyonte George. Not a lot of size at the 1, 2 and 3 positions, if you know what I mean. You need to get a true SF. That would do wonders.

Those are your problems, and you're not going to win games until you overcome or solve them, although Otto Porter's presence might help some in the lineup.

Thanks Jammer... looks like everyone who is observing this team is able to see our glaring holes but our Front Office.
