Who else on OKC lineup could do this. Possible for Russ and perhaps Kanter. Not seeing KD being able to lift it once

KD's stronger than you give him credit for. I've seen him hold his own against Griffin in the paint before for a possession.

In fact, all those guys are probably stronger than you think. Guessing everyone on the roster except Cam could do it at least once. All these guys, even someone as fat as Big Baby or as skinny as Lamb, are elite athletes.

Bulls have successfully fielded productive defenses with weak front court defensive players such as Carlos Boozer involved in the past. Russell Westbrook is going to have to be a lot more disciplined on his PnR defense -- and the team as a whole more communicative, if Kanter is going to be playing big minutes and our defense is to stay productive.

Another thing to do is control pace. Our pace was a bit out of control this year with Westbrook on the court.

It's an awkward position to be in having to pay this kind of money to Kanter and I guess Presti felt he could help the team. I hope he's right.

My concern with Kanter even using this defensive concept comes when coach Nick says, "all the low defender has to do is hold his postion.."

boing.... that is why I continue to challenge the the Utah fan that supports Kanter to come up with the number of charges Kanter ever took in his time in Utah. It isn't to just give him a hard time, although that is a bonus, I sincerely want an answer to that question. I've observed Kanter on multiple occasions have position and not simply set his feet and take the charge in the short period of time he was in OKC. There isn't a defensive scheme that can help a player than can't hold his mud. The Thunder would be better with a cardboard cutout, at least the cutout would hold its position.

I saw three different versions of this trade reported before finally seeing something official. OKC gets a trade exception and a 2018 2nd round pick for PJ3, 2019 2nd round pick and cash considerations.

He should get a shot, he showed flashes and is athletic like none other. I question if he was the hardest worker though, and he'd have bizarro inconsistencies. Never saw a guy put up 32 in one game then literally be able to watch him play 20 minutes in games without knowing he's out there.

Perry Jones is worse than Jeff Green. He's not good. He's one of the worst rebounders ever for someone 6'10" or taller, inconsistent from three, loose handles, etc. He's awful.

Less consistent though, and less skilled. But more athletic

Looking at the Donovan coaching article Kanter looks like the ideal answer for his offensive aims but will struggle mightily on the defensive covers. Not so sure it was a positive indication for Adams in Donovan's playbook.

Think about Oklahoma City’s second unit: It’s Kanter, Nick Collison, Kyle Singler, D.J. Augustin and the loser of the Dion Waiters/Andre Roberson battle. Not to mention Mitch McGary (who Oklahoma City execs are very high on), Steve Novak (who OKC has taken off the trading block, I’m told) and Josh Huestis, last year’s first round pick who is a strong candidate to be part of the team this season. In the middle of a snake bitten season, Thunder GM Sam Presti turned Reggie Jackson (who didn’t want to be in OKC anyway) and Kendrick Perkins into Kanter, Singler and Augustin, three players the Thunder would not have been able to sign outright due to cap considerations.

Also, Mannix expects Kanter off the bench too.

PJ3 is very talented with a very good base skill set to work with and expand on. People tend to forget that GMs were drooling over this guy before his injury and his subsequent devaluing being on this roster.... which many expected given he is a tweener and stuck behind KD and Ibaka.

Its good to see him moving on to a team that can put him in the forefront, the Celtics got a steal.
He is going to thrive on that team as long as he is given proper minutes per game and i imagine if he is not already starting, he will be by the end of the first quarter of the season. I suspect he will reach a value and offering abilities similar to GWall in his heyday.
