So Motiejunas is definitely out?

Too bad. I was looking forward to him playing with the Lithuanian National Team.

Call me crazy, but I think that this is the best TEAM the US has sent to the olympics in quite some time. Everyone outside of DeAndre can pretty much shoot the 3, the defensive is scary, and each member (outside of Barnes) is in their prime and coming off a great year (Melo is still there, too). The super-athleticism that has always been the hallmark of the team in years past isn't quite as pronounced this year, but it is still incomparably superior to any other country's. I'm happy to see that guys like Lebron, CP3, Harden, Westbrook didn't take the call, because it opened up the opportunity for the undeniably hungrier players like PG, Klay, Jimmy and Draymond to step up and take on bigger roles. This will be a really fun team to watch. Can't wait until they start their exhibition games this weekend.

Serbia has a great group of young guys (Bogdanovic, Nedovic, Jokic, Jovic) and wildcard Teodosic who can seriously light it up from time to time. If they had Bjelica and Boban I would have them as the clear #2 in the tournament. They play very well as a team, disciplined on both ends. They even beat France (without Batum or Gobert) twice this summer in preparation for their qualifiers.

http://www.fiba.com/olympics/2016/news/china-call-on-numerous-veterans-for-rio-campaign

China and the United States will be playing a pair of friendlies in the lead-up to the Games on July 24th and July 26th.

I'm looking forward to this mostly to get a glimpse of Zhou Qi, who was just drafted by the Rockets.

Wang Zhelin, recently drafted by the Grizzlies, is also a member of the Chinese National Team.

Knicks fans are going to be praying that Melo doesn't get injured. Beyond that, we're looking forward to seeing our two new Euro rookies play well: Mindaugas Kuzminskas from Lithuania and Willie Hernangomez from Spain. Some of you may have heard that the Knicks haven't been a good team for a long long time. LOL.

This year, we think we've got the pieces to make a great team (well, it would be great for NY if we could make the playoffs and win a few games). So we're looking to see if two of our new guys can really play.

Beyond that, most Knicks fans are from the US and are US team fans, too. This could be just the antidote to the long dry spell without basketball, and maybe the popularity of basketball here in the US will increase viewership of the Olympic basketball games and the other sports as well.

Yeah, too much uncertainty with his contract. I hope we will join our NT next year, him plus Jonas and NBA experienced Sabonis would be a killer frontcourt.

So Justin Hamilton won't be playing?

You mean Marc. And Ibaka isn't playing for Spain either.

Spanish team is still full of NBA players. This is their probably lineup

PG Rubio/Sergio Rodriguez
SG Llull/Navarro
SF Rudy/San Emeterio/Abrines
PF Mirotic/Reyes/Claver
C Gasol/Hernangomez

This.

100% agreed.

It's a very balanced team, with redundant depth so they don't really miss a beat on substitutions.
