I wasn't sure who I was going to pick up at 25 but your drop of Plumlee made it easier for me. Now I have three possible break out players from the Blazers.

Damn .. that was quick. Was hoping to draft my first non-rookie if someone would play ball!

Yet you wouldn't trade anything for him.

Hopefully the upside of the guys I drafted pan out. Portis really does seem to be the steal of the draft it is a shame there is such a log jam at the four in Chicago. I have to believe a trade happens at some point. Jokic is a nice young prospect. I liked him in last years draft.

I doubt you would have taken Anderson Varejao for him. Turns out to be a much better deal for me to drop Varejao for him than to offer up something you would like.

Lol..exactly! You don't offer that trade to the guy picking right after you...well played Ham

Anyone else thinking of dropping productive players, please talk to me first.

Portis was one of 2 players I had in mind when I made my last trade, but instead decided to roll the dice on Booker and his Klay comps  since I found myself a little guard light. Not sure if these preseason numbers will translate even if Portis gets playing time this year, but should be a fun guy to own. Good luck!

So are we able to add and drop player from the free agent pool?

Yes, add/drops are open right after the draft every year. Also, I set waiver priorities (opposite of draft, advantage winning teams).

Remind me the IL rules... I can put Exum on the injured list after he misses 5 games?

Yes, you can drop any player after 5 consecutive games missed on your roster. I'm open to using Yahoo's new IL system, if it makes sense, though.

I think it's just that any player with the injured distinction (as determined by third party provider feed to yahoo) can go into an IR slot. They can stay there indefinitely, even after no longer injured... but if you try to do a drop/add while a player who is no longer injured is in the IR slot, you will be told you are over the limit. So basically if you stash a player there after they are no longer hurt, you can't drop/add.

Guys, I think I'm ready to active those 2 IL spots and let us work within that system instead. Does anybody have any objections? Will do so on the weekend unless there is strong opposition.

Pros -
Yahoo's system will auto block moves if somebody is stashing a healthy player
We don't have to maintain this ourselves
Managers will no longer be able to stash mediocre rookies or overseas talent
Those players who come back briefly and get re-injured will still be immediately eligible to go back to IL

Cons -
We're not sure how accurate/quick Yahoo's IL system will be
You will not get any reprieve if one of your players is suspended

All-in-all, both systems will have flaws. I feel we might as well use Yahoo's instead. If - by chance - you disagree with Yahoo's Il system along the way, we will not be circumventing their system, though. We're not managing two systems. Any feedback for or against?

I feel this:
Managers will no longer be able to stash mediocre rookies or overseas talent

is a con not a pro especially since I have and over seas stash and a mediocre rookie.

Perhaps, we give it a season to see how things shake out? Is anyone in a league that is using it?
or we do a combination system, where players who fall into the yahoo parameters can go on the Yahoo IL and those that don't we do the old fashioned way.

The overseas stash was pretty rare... and you'll still be able to stash mediocre rookies upside talent if they hit the IL. You could add them and stash them right away. Overall, I think the flexible IL rewards activity more than anything.

(No combination IL - either/or). Storing overseas/suspended/DNP-CD talent was a by-product of our shotty attempt at an IL after Yahoo removed theirs.

Can I keep Dario Saric? I thought the Rubio-Rule predated yahoo getting rid of the IL but I could be wrong.

If not can I have Mason Plumlee back?
