When the NBA expands they do not allow the new teams to have a top pick. Should we do the same?

I would be okay with that. However it does to some point mess up the lottery. I would like a little more import. Current one team is due 1 lottery ball and the other 5. So we could balance it out to 3 apiece but that sort of hurt the other teams with three lottery balls. Or we could run the lottery as designed and then more the to new guys to the end of the draft but prior to the champ.

Let's open it up for a bit more discussion.

Had the same issue in one of my leagues, this is what we did in the end:

1) run the lottery as usual

2) put the resulting picks (ex #3 and #8) in the mini-draft pool so the new managers can chose those as well

Yeah there was a misunderstanding on my end, we talked about it over email. It's been rectified. Picks are updated now on that thread as you mentioned.
