He would have stayed if he had SF eligibility. I am short on SFs.

That is why they call them small forwards.

And I will forfeit my pick.

As I'm about to go to sleep and I don't want to hold things up until tomorrow,
I'm gonna go ahead and pick

#19 Santi Aldama

This is assuming the offer from TheMan, and consequent trade, is still valid.
If not (it took me quite a few hours to reach out, so maybe something else came up) just scratch this

I'm sorry but how is a skipped pick traded later on and a player can be picked before I make a pick?

It doesn't make sense to me that this can happen.

It is the #19 pick. It was skipped but it still a valid pick.Just like if someone's 12 hours expired. The pick is still good. Think of it this way, six (?) people jumped over me and I am picking late. But the pick is being traded to batta.

It was forfeited. Then anybody who forfeits a pick can go back and make a pick whenever....

It was skipped. Anyone who was skipped can pick.

Let's assume you had the #14 pick and your 12 hours expires. Then the person with #13 picks, do you not get to pick? Of course you do, but you were skipped. In fact there is precedence for this in the NFL draft. The Minnesota Vikings were jumped twice during the 2003 draft. Minnesota held the No. 7 pick and ran out of time after failing to make a trade with Baltimore. Jacksonville then drafted quarterback Byron Leftwich and Carolina drafted tackle Jordan Gross. The Vikings finally took defensive tackle Kevin Williams at No. 9.

Not sure I agree with that logic. This is the NBA and not the NFL. It's not done in the NBA draft.

It messes up people's planning and queues. They see a skipped pick assume they can get a player they wanted then all of a sudden someone jumps the line and grabs them. If they skipped wouldn't they just go to the back of the line then? Forfeiting a pick or skipping whatever you wanna call it should have some sort of penalty.

I hadn't thought of it this way, but valid points.

First of all as eyeatoma said this is the NBA not NFL. And on that example they have been skipped due to time. They didn't come out and say "We aren't picking but we'll comeback and pick later when we are ready"

Secondly, on all previous years picks were forfeited (and in reality there's really no difference of skipping and forfeiting unless you are somehow making a late trade with your forfeited pick). When you are skipping/forfeiting your pick, it's because you don't wanna drop a player because there's no worthy player to pickup instead of them.

You can see people are not "skipping" their pick, they are forfeiting their pick. Because they don't wanna pick a bad player and drop a good one.

Thanks. Out of curiosity how was this originally decided on?

If this is the case, you should have lost your pick last year when you were late and Alicg picked.
