This last set, like most last sets late in tournaments, was fairly epic though

If Murray had won this semi, I would have said he didn't deserve it. He completely tanked the 4th set, and needs a big time attitude adjustment. His coach Ivan Lendl must be mortified. So glad Nadal gets to destroy a real champion.

Kind of like he destroyed Novak last year.......oh wait.

Murray didn't deserve to win because he let the 4th set go? That was clearly the right strategic move for him there. You have no idea what you're talking about.

If Roger can't win anymore slams, I'm hoping Joker or anyone else wins them.

No Nadal at all costs!

This reminded me of Federer at the US Open semis vs Djok. Federer strategically gave up on the 4th set once he got down a break. He then lost the 5th set in thrilling circumstances. Later, in the press conference, Federer claimed that during the 4th set he was thinking of Nadal and gave up on the 4th set to save energy for the 5th set (and for the final vs Nadal which he would never make). Of course, when you give up on the 4th set you give up momentum heading into the 5th set. Murray in particular made a huge error of judgement when he lost serve to give the 4th set away 6-1 thereby allowing Djok to serve first in the 5th set. At least hold serve and make him serve it out....that way you can serve first in the 5th. Maybe Murray was intending to hold serve.....but he clearly wasn't willing to extend the rallies. This from a guy who frequently referred to his improved fitness and talked up the semi as an opportunity to outlast Djok. Last thing you want to do is give away a set if you are for real about that ambition.

Anyway, thank god Djok made the final. Nadal would have received zero credit for destroying Murray.

Sharapova wins the Women's in three, Novak wins the Men's in four.

I sincerely hope Djokovic is close to a 100% when he starts the finals, this tournament deserves an epic final.

Looking forward to seeing Joker putting Nadal in his place; in second place.

No way man, Nadal held the number ranking for 102 weeks. That's more than Djok. Nadal is the only man in world history to win slams on clay, grass and hardcourt in a calendar year.

I was rooting for Murray because I think Nadal would have had a much better chance at beating him than the Djoker.

There was no suspense to the Fedal match. There wasn't any doubt who would come out on top, whereas this match was up in the air until the final game. ;)

PATHETIC!! Women's tennis can be so embarassing at times. :-?

Seriously if I were going to pay big money for a tennis slam finals I would NEVER pay for a women's final because 9 out of 10 times you're going to get a stinker like this. Its been how many years now that we've had an exciting, edge of your seat women's finals? How about not for many, MANY years?? I really can't remember one in years now and it sucks! :x

Hingis handed out the trophies. Hingis still looks 5 times hotter than Sharapova ever did!

I agree, and I see nothing good on the horizon. They need 2 consistent top flight performers, to build a rivalry. They need to separate themselves from the pack and meet regularly in the finals. And if they happen to be sexy, that would be ideal. Seems like the top 10 rarely are the sexy, let alone the top 2.

Damn it, I hate Azarenka. I wanted Cjlisters or Sharapova to win this thing.

Actually a pretty pathetic effort from the one the supposed best "fighters" and mentally tough players in the women's game.

If Sharapova is one of the most mentally tough players in the women's game....they are so screwed.

I have the match DVR'd but I'm not sure I'll watch anymore than the ending.

An absolute whitewash. Maria was just a step behind every shot, Azarenka was barely challenged with the exception of being down 0-2 in the first. Hopefully that's our one thud of a final at this year's AO. It was the men last year that was ridiculous.
