Game 2: DEN vs MEM

Post#1 » by VCfor3 » Sat Oct 28, 2023 12:18 am

Like the effort the first half. Group rebounding, solid defense, pushing the pace more. Turnovers are what are killing us, but some of that is guys trying to figure each other out. The game plan everyone worked on in training camp immediately went to hell with the injuries. Being down to the healthy champions by only 5 at halftime is great considering twitter/X today was debating if the guys out would beat the starting 5 from tonight's game.

Lost by 4 and in it till the end against the healthy champs. Could have managed the last minute or so of the game better but oh well. Turnovers did us in.

JJJ was great outside of foul trouble. Smart and Rose with really good games too. Really most people had a good game outside of Bane and Roddy. Z's shot wasn't quite falling but he did a lot of other stuff to make up for it. I hate possessions with Tillman trying to operate from the perimeter. Half the time he drove ended in a TO it felt like. He was great at the hustle plays and finishing around the basket though so overall an okay game from him.

Tillman was phenomenal. Smart just stole my heart. Love this guy - what a gem for Memphis.

We played significantly better in this game than the opener, but we happened to be matched up against the defending champs. Let's see how we look tonight against a team not build around its big guys like Nola and Denver.

Bane showcased his limitations - he cannot effectively create for himself.
