Brief Write-Up

24 hours. That's basically all I had, to inject some kind of direction into this team. The previous GM disappeared sometime around free agency therefore all free agents were lost, giving a distinctly weak front court and unclear direction - and of course, a lack of assets to work with. The team as constructed, was likely to be a 30-40 win team - not terrible, but not good enough, and with not enough upside. So I maximised the value of my assets - Gortat, Williams, Mayo, bringing in some great prospects in Cody Zeller, Alex Len, and some defensive complimentary pieces in Avery Bradley and Taj Gibson; and of course the highly marketable Jeremy Lin.

Short term, the team will struggle to score, but will play aggressive defensively (particularly cutting the passing lanes) and with a huge amount of upside. The outcome? A top 5 pick next year (a scorer), a world class point guard, a pair of center prospects with All Star upside. The future's bright, for the Pioneers.

Code: Select all

Trades
1. CLE Out:

Daniel Gibson $4792332
ORL 2013 2nd

Jazz Out:

Rip Hamilton

We do this trade to get even older.

But seriously. Rip still puts up numbers and Gibson is a waste of space.

2. Utah sends (Trade #33)

Enes Kanter (4,319,280)
Derrick Favors ($0 bc of miniamnesty)
Alec Burks (2,111,160)
Mo Williams (8,500,000)

2013 First Rd Pick Utah

Total: 14,930,440

New Orleans Sends

Ricky Rubio (3,741,120)
Carlos Delfino (3,000,000)
Tiago Splitter (3,944,000)
G. Vasquez (1,191,240)
Rights to some foreign guy (Edin Bavcic)
2016 Second (Sacremento) or 2016 Second (Los Angeles Clippers) (whichever pick is higher)

Total: 11,876,360

Why would I give up so much for Ricky Rubio?
1. Because I can (had a lot of assets)
2. Ricky Rubio fills our need at PG. He's a special player who is top 5 for PG at everything he does (except shooting) and we feel an excellent fit for the team. Also, Tiago Splitter is pretty good, and Delfino and Vasquez are good role players.

50. The Minnesota Timberwolves finally have 3 crippled all stars in its starting rotation after this blockbuster trade

money works

Cyborgs accept. Vasquez is playing very well this year & is on a great contract. Perfect back-up PG. Also gives us a few more expiring contracts
