New annoucements

Post#48 » by lukekarts » Wed Jun 2, 2010 8:06 am

Rudy Gay's agent has today announced his client has signed an offer sheet with the Sacramento Kings.

The deal will start at Rudy's maximum of $13.75m (25% of the cap), with 8% rises over 5 years.

Memphis has been given 24 hours to match.

---

Mike Miller's agent has today announced his intention to sign with the San Antonio Spurs.

The deal is believed to be the full MLE over 5 years; Mike will arrive in San Antonio later today.

His agent commented that Mike had a lot of offers, however he felt the starting role offered and the opportunity to play alongside Tim Duncan & Manu Ginobili was not one he could turn down.

---

Raja Bell has announced that he has signed with the Miami Heat to a one year veteran's minimum. He received a couple of similar offers elsewhere, however his home is in Miami and he'd like a shot at championship contention before he retires.

---

Derek Fisher has re-signed with the LA Lakers. Terms of the deal are believed to be $3m yr 1, $3.5m year 2 (Team Option). "Derek didn't have to think twice about other offers" his agent said; "his home is LA and he told me that's where he's gonna stay".

---

More announcements to follow later.

Can the Commish please edit the first post and indicate the Free agents that have signed and with what team? That will make it easier for me to see who is actually available in the FA pool rather than looking through the entire thread.

Maybe not anymore.

New York Knicks were today proud to announce the signing of not one, not two, not three, but four free agents.

Having met over the past few days, all four players decided to team up together to try and bring some success back to the city.

And those 4 players are none other than:

Terms of the deals are expected to be revealed later, however inside sources have leaked preliminary information:

Felton signs - $5m (4 years, rising $500k each year)
Johnson signs - $16.3m (5-6 years, max rises)
Luis Scola - $7m (4 years, rising $500k each year)
Brendan Haywood $7m (4 years, rising 8% each year, 5th year team option)

Joe Johnson's agent reported his client was delighted to become the new face of the franchise, but his client was still pushing to get a S&T completed with Atlanta, although won't allow New York to be held to ransom over the issue.

Many insiders believe this is only the first part to New York's masterplan, and that they will use Eddy Curry's cap space next summer and try to lure Carmelo Anthony, and perhaps Chris Paul, to Manhattan.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

Salmons arrives in Dallas!

After days of working out offers, Dallas have finally agreed on a S&T for John Salmons.

Salmons noted he's been extremely excited to join Dallas since the team first expressed interest in him prior to free agency, and that he's looking forward to joining the teams summer camp.

As part of the deal, Dallas will be sending Jason Terry back to Milwaukee.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

This bushel of free agents is a nice alternative to Lebron+1 superstar plus a mismatch of players of various quality.

My team now has Brendan Haywood, Luis Scola, Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton and Joe Johnson starting with Elliot Williams, Toney Douglas, Wilson Chandler and Javaris Varnado coming off the bench. Its a talented and deep team that's has key players who are young enough to get better. This team won't necessarily be the young and gun team that Diantoni loves to feature but if he's as good a coach as people say he'll adapt his strategy to his team. If not then he's gone for a better fit.

PS: I would like to  to the agent who patiently both helped me realize that David Lee was probably going to leave and point me towards are cheaper but quality alternative in Scola. You know who you are.

From an email from Houston on Monday: "I'm not going to match any offers on Scola or Lowry."

I had since moved both players into the unrestricted FA category in the opening post.

Ronnie Brewer has today signed an offer sheet with the Sacramento Kings. Although he received lots of similar offers, he feels if he leaves Memphis he'll be excited to join such a talented young team.

Terms of the deal are:

$6,000,000
$6,000,000
$6,000,000
$6,000,000 PO
$6,000,000 ETO

Lots of signings! not much time to write these up...

Post#65 » by lukekarts » Thu Jun 3, 2010 10:32 pm

Cleveland Cavaliers have today announced 3 Free Agent signings:

SF - Travis Outlaw - 3 years MLE ($5.5m per year, flat)
PG - Kyle Lowry - 2 years BAE (2nd year player option)
C - Jarron Collins - vet minimum.

Lowry in particular was disappointed with lack of interest in him, but is determined to prove his worth in 2 years in Cleveland, and hopefully land a bigger contract at a later date.

LA Clippers are proud to announce their new starting Center is none other than Jermaine O'Neal. Jermaine has accepted a 5 year, $30m offer with the LA team. Jermaine received a lot of offers, but none gave him both the money and the prospect of starting, outside of LA's offer.

Orlando Magic have finally signed themselves a backup point guard; journeyman Carlos Arroyo joins the team after receving a 2 year deal using part of the MLE, $2.6m per year over 2 years.

Orlando have also got another former player returning home, this time via S&T. That man is none other than Shaquille O'Neal for 2 years totalling $14,418,080. Going to Cleveland as part of the trade are Francisco Garcia and Ryan Anderson.

Milwaukee Bucks have struck a deal with Luke Ridnour, which sees him return to Milwaukee for another 2 seasons, at $3.75m per year. It was always his intention to return to Milwaukee, however his agent noted his client was a little unflattered by the interest he received.

Charlotte Bobcats have signed Nate Robinson to the full MLE over 4 years. Nate replaces Felton, and Charlotte hope he returns to his better days under Jordan's reign.

Phoenix Suns have today announced Lou Amundson has put pen to paper on a 4 year deal. The deal is thought to be in the region of $2m per year with the 4th year a team option. Lou received similar offers elsewhere, but feels loyal to Phoenix and has enjoyed his time there

Toronto Raptors meanwhile have been busy signing a power forward. Amir Johnson returns to the team, having put pen to paper on a 4 year, $22.5m deal, with his final year a team option.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.
