NBA All-Time Fantasy Draft Competition - Discussion Thread
Rules:
This is a 16 team league, with a 12 round draft.
Compared to the drafts and all-time leagues in the past, here's the twist:
Based off of the RealGM All-Time Top 100 List on the Player Comparisons Board, the Top 9 players are NOT allowed to be chosen.
Therefore that automatically eliminates the following: Jordan, Abdul-Jabbar, Russell, Chamberlain, Johnson, Bird, Olajuwon, O'Neal, and Duncan.
The reason for this is because these are primarily considered the more *perfect* players, and from the past these are the players that have 95%+ of the time won the draft/league competitions. For example Bill Walton, Patrick Ewing, Kevin Garnett, LeBron James, and D-Wade are closer in comparison to someone like Moses Malone, Jerry West, Karl Malone and Oscar Robertson (fringe Top 10 players), rather than someone like Olajuwon, Johnson, Bird, Duncan, or O'Neal.
Trades are NOT allowed, work with what you get in the draft order.
For now the draft order is decided at ABBAABBAABBA (we can change later if some disagree).
After the 16 spots are filled, TMACFORMVP or I will randomly decide using this website (http://www.random.org/lists/) on which posters go in which order of the draft.
When you select players this will be going off of a 2 year peak, a minimum of 120 games played during this 2 season span, so once you draft the player, please post what seasons you are planning on using.
Playoffs - 4 teams out of the 16 will each be in 4 different divisions. Let's call them the North, South, East, and West divisions. (All in all it'll be similar to the NCAA Basketball sweet 16 format).
Judging will be done via the other 14 members in the competition that are not being judged (pretty simple, just pick who in your opinion should win, no reasons necessary).
After the signup thread is done TMACFORMVP will take over and start the draft order and deal with managing/setting up everything.
Signup, and put contact info (we'd prefer a messenger like AIM or MSN, but e-mail would be fine).

Always in, always out very quickly after the draft, but hopefully this time it's different.

I'll play though I think you chickened out a bit on originality. Take out all the players with rings or all the MVPs and let the Rik Smits's of the world have a shot at greatness.

Sign me up.
This format for the most part has very little impact except for the bigs. Only 1 SG, PG, PF and SF is dropped. I look for Moses and DRob to dominate. Also will test some of the new info from the player of the yr project.
The upside is that the Cs will be much more even and you dont have to worry about having to matchup with the super star bigs.
