All Time Fantasy Draft (DRAFT OVER)

Post#1 » by TMACFORMVP » Mon Jan 17, 2011 6:53 pm

-Since the draft is starting rather quickly, the draft clock for the first round will have a grace period for everyone to get in their picks. I think 6 hours sounds reasonable where it will then be shortened to 4 hours after the first round. I'll try to keep it updated quickly and accurately so people can realize when they're on the clock. 2 year peak, everyone eligible outside of RealGM Top 9 (Jordan, Kareem, Russell, Wilt, Magic, Bird, Shaq, Hakeem, Duncan).

AND IF YOUR PICK IS COMING UP SOON, AND YOU KNOW YOU MIGHT BE AWAY, SEND IN A LIST. *Either PM dcash4, or you can email me at t_mac_1123@hotmail.com

After some deliberation I select David Robinson.

Image

My first year really watching basketball was as a 10 year old boy, around 1996. I remember asking my dad who the best center in the league was. He said it was a tough call between Robinson and Olajuwon, but he would lean towards the Admiral.

All NBA Team voters in my selected years agreed.

1994-95: 27.6 ppg, 10.8 rpg, 3.2 bpg, All NBA First Team, NBA MVP, All NBA Defensive First Team
1995-96: 25.0 ppg, 12.2 rpg, 3.3 bpg, All NBA First Team, All NBA Defensive First Team

Can anchor a team extremely effectively on both ends of the floor and has no clearly superior centers to contend with.

DrJ in 76 Led the league in both offensive and defensive winshares. Finishing in the top 6 in every major catagory in the league.

1st in scoring
3rd in rebounding
3rd in Off rebs
5th in assts
2nd in steals
6th in blocks

Shoots 50% from the field and IMHO most importantly carried an entire league on his shoulders. Players played hard for DrJ not wanting to let him down and they werent even his teammates. With out a doubt the greatest leader left on the board.

I'm going Bill Walton.

His two year peak consists of nearly 19 PPG, over 13 boards, 4+ assists, elite shot blocking, an MVP award, and an NBA Championship in which he also picked up the Finals MVP. In the playoffs, he averaged 19/15/6, and will anchor both our offense and defense with his passing, post offense, and elite shot blocking.

Pretty easy choice here with LeBron gone. Going with the one great two-way center left who dominated inside on both ends of the floor and a guy who stepped up in the playoffs and carried his team to a ring . . .

After a hard tough debate, I'm going to go with Patrick Ewing, he anchored arguably one of the top 5 defensive teams in the history of the game (statistically speaking), that's on par with the '08 Boston Celtics (one of the best modern day defensive teams).

Patrick Ewing
92/93-93/94
