Xmas Eastern Conference Finals

Post#1 » by damecurry » Tue Jan 19, 2016 4:26 am

I would go ahead and post depth charts but we all know Ness and I will post our own with write-ups so there's no need.

Bucks vs. Nets

Let's do this s*** Ness.

Russell Westbrook / Ish Smith / Mo Williams
Jimmy Butler / Jerian Grant
DeMarre Carroll / CJ Miles
Paul Millsap / Josh Smith / Diamond Stone
Chris Bosh / Cody Zeller / Lucas Nogueira

Rotation
WB (36) / Ish (8) / Mo (4)
Butler (36) / Miles (8) / Mo (4)
Carroll (32) / Miles (16)
Millsap (34) / J. Smith (8) / Bosh (6)
Bosh (30) / Zeller (14) / Nogueira (4)

Write-up: I don't expect to win this, as the 2 seed and underdog and going up against the star power he's got. But I'm not going down without a fight. Ness put together a heck of a team but I think we've got better fit and balance overall. WB is the best player in the league by many metrics, and 2nd best in the rest. He will eat Dwill and even Beverly alive, hes' the reason I win this series. The way I see it, WB is a bigger advantage over dwill than KD is over Carroll, who's a great defender and has the length to give KD as much hell as anyone can really. Millsap has the quickness and toughness to guard lebron as well as anyone can. Butler is a much better all around player than hayward and will be a big advantage, and Gobert's effect will be minimized trying to chase Bosh to the 3-line. We also just have the versatility to stave off his stars, if lebron's beating up millsap we can put JB on him, same for KD and Carroll can shift butler over, bring cj in to torch them back. The bench units are pretty much a wash here. So I think WB and Butler win this thing for us in a very competitive 7 games.

PG: Deron Williams (12) / Patrick Beverly (24) / Lebron James (12)
SG: Gordon Hayward (36) / Kevin Durant (12)
SF: Kevin Durant (24) / Lebron James (12) / Dirk Nowitzki (12)
PF: Lebron James (12) / Dirk Nowitzki (20) / Al Jefferson (16)
Cc: Rudy Gobert (36) / Al Jefferson (12)

Like I've told you via email - you've put together a great team DameCurry. But let's get it on!

Offense - Lebron and KD screen and rolls will be unguardable.

Lebron and KD are the two best players in the league. They are on ONE team, together.

Hayward/KD and Lebron are play makers, they all are willing passers and excellent decision makers.

We bring a nasty offensive combo off the bench too in Dirk and Jefferson. We are a legit 8 deep. 4 different looks from outer bigs. Our bench is significantly better than the Bucks.

Deron and Beverly will look to set up our offense for Hayward, KD and Lebron.

---------------------------

Defense - We will neutralize WB with Beverly and keep him busy with Deron. Lebron and Hayward may even guard him occasionally.

For Butler we will use Hayward, Lebron, and KD on him, both all above average defenders.

We will cheat off of Carroll since he's basically just a shooter with Butler and WB out there.

Gobert matches up nicely against Bosh. BUT he controls the paint defensively. If WB or Butler beat their man, the BEST shot blocker in the NBA will be there waiting.

WB MAY get his (Beverly is a NAT defenseman) and Butler will play good, but:

OUR NETS team has ZERO holes.

- Great on D
- Great on O
- SPACING
- Coaching
- Ball Movement
- DEPTH
- YOUTH
- Veterans who've won titles
- STAR POWER
- chemistry

..........everything you need to be dominate.

Nets advance 4 - 2.
Nets have home court advantage as well!

I'm actually in the same boat as DN. I keep going back and forth. I'll make up my mind later today :)

I looked for any reason not to pick the nets...but couldn't find any. Nets are my pick.

Xmas Eastern Conference Finals

Post#8 » by DroppinDimes » Tue Jan 19, 2016 3:22 pm

Went back and forth with this. I think it's real easy to look at Bron and KD and say they can't lose but the Bucks have a heck of a team.

By Metrics, Westbrook is the best player in this series with KD and Bron right behind him but the Bucks also have 4 starters in the top 20. I also love the overall fit of the Bucks.

I keep changing my mind with this but I'll go Bucks in 7. Maybe I'm crazy to go against KD and Bron but damn this is pretty tight to me.

Ness and Dame did a heck of a job with these teams.

Dame and Ness again did great jobs.

RW loses the spacing of Durant and faces the defense of LeBron and Gobert in Crunch time. Too much

Bucks in 7

Tough one. Lots of offense and very good defenses too. I think Westbrook is the only guy that could go off, KD and lebron I think can be minimized with butler etc. I can't see Williams slowing down Westbrook, maybe Beverley but not sure he can do it consistently either

Even if it didn't count thanks for the token vote skorff, I like the idea of losing 4-2 better than 4-1
