Xmas contraction: Write-ups

Post#1 » by DerrickNoah » Tue Jan 19, 2016 11:01 pm

Gonna do this a little different. Ness & the Nets are already a winner & obviously the best win-now team, hense the reason they won the championship. It's all about Championships.
Plus, In a contraction games, it is hard to say who started with the least, etc. since the worst teams got to pick 1st in the contraction draft.

I want each team to pick one of the options and then explain why you believe you deserve to win that option.

Option A = The 5-year plan
- you believe you will win a championship in the next 3-6 years. You have promising young stars and are just one or two pieces away from being the next dynasty.

Option B = The 10-year plan
-you totally stock piled assests and young studs to set yourself up for a more than promising NBA future.

Option A
Bucks
Well, I won the previous championship, which we didn't have playoffs for but I was voted first overall. So there's that. Now we've got WB/Butler both under 28 entering their prime, we've got Carroll/Millsap/Bosh/CJ all in their early 30s and prime, so we'll be contending for the next few years for sure. We don't have picks for this year but have a few after that (which aren't ours mostly and thus might be good ones) and we've got a couple youngs guys in Grant and Stone to build off of. So Yeah I think we're primed to compete and give Ness hell in the next few years as LBJ ages out and WB becomes ever more dominant.
Option B
Raptors
We built this team specifically for a 10-year type plan. We've got good young pieces at every position already with Exum/Hezonja/Ingram/Val as our core. Just as importantly we have 5, yeah 5, 1sts in 2017, 4 in 2020, at least 1 1st in every year, plenty of cap-space and options to improve in the future. I think we're one of the best, if not the best, oriented teams for the distant future, 2017 is supposed to be a strong draft class, we can deal up to get harry giles next year and be pretty set with a young locked in core that can grow together, pretty much guaranteed a title somewhere 5-10 years down the road imo.

I don't believe I did a good job with either of my teams. I don't like how the players fit together on the blazers not to mention I'm paying high salary for players who haven't reached their potential yet. Couldn't guarantee they would win in 10 years...let alone 5.

The Knicks have an interesting dynamic with Elfrid Payton, Porzingis, and Cauley Stein. I think they can grow together but I'm not sure their ceiling is winning a championship. Atleast the Knicks will be able to take stabs at free agents in the coming years so that's where the hope would lie.

I'm excited to put this first season of being a gm behind me. Hopefully a new one starts up soon because I'm more knowledgable and prepared for how the game works.

I have been thinking all week how I wanted to respond to this, but I am just going to accept.

Nets WIN best overall and best win now.

I won't do huge write up, but I put my heart into this game.

I asked for Philly and Brooklyn when the game started as I wanted the worst two teams as far assets and records.

I got the second worst, in terms of record, and the worst in terms of assets.

Everyone who has ever played GMAT in the last 2/3 years KNOW that the Nets are the worst team to have. PERIOD.

Not only did I TRADE for LEBRON, but I resigned him.

THEN I traded for KD.

Two superstars. I then put the perfect complimentary pieces around them, both youuth and veterans.

I completeted my goal - win now, best overall, BUT I wanted win future as well.

I think KD / Gobert / Hayward and even Lebron is a great window for winning future as well.

VOTE NETS FOR THE TRIFECTA!

Option A - 3-6 years to become a dynasty

Orlando Magic Players:
PG: (FA- Steph Curry) / Raul Neto
SG: Kent Bazemore / Alec Burks
SF: Paul George
PF: Derrick Favors
C: Festus Ezeli / Enes Kanter

Riley Curry demands that her father signs with Orlando in the off season so she can have season pass to Disney.
The Magic will have max money to offer Steph. His previous team did not even make the playoffs. He would love to start a dynasty with Derrick Favors and Paul George.

Bos
Option a.
I think I have a contender. Probably one star away from having a chance but look at my page I added a ton of picks as well so this should be possible

Suns and Jazz
I feel option A. We have a lot of good pieces, plus future cap space to sign an impact guy.

Wizards-
I kept going back and forth on which direction to take with this team. I do like the young talent I ended up with (Knight, McCollum, Middleton, Portis, and Nurkic) but obviously we won't be winning a championship with this roster anytime soon. We ended up having a lot of picks in the future and some nice young assets which we can use in trades to improve if need be. We also should have some financial flexibility to try to get an impact player if needed in FA.

Pelicans-
I actually liked what I did with the Pelicans but doesn't look like others agreed :) I thought the team fit was perfect with guys who can contribute in multiple ways and on both ends of the floor. Obviously the team will need to make some changes going forward since we were only a 6 seed and bounced in the 1st round. We got enough talent on the team that we can move certain players to switch up the dynamic. The only player we wouldn't be looking to move is Cousins. The overall goal for this team will be to try to add another superstar player in the next few years to team with Cousins and build around that.

Grizzlies-
I took over this team late in the game and really couldn't do much with it. Only move was to move Conley and the main piece I got back was Mudiay. Mudiay does have star potential IMO. This team still has some young talent with Tobias and Vucevic. This team needs to shore up the SG and PF spots. The good thing is we will have money available the next few years to try to add some impact players at one or both of those spots.

Pistons and Spurs both feel as if they did not do enough to win.

Pistons collected some young talent and a load of picks but have nothing surefire.

Spurs put together a great young core in Bledsoe, Griffin and Hood, with some intriguing prospects, but never figured it out fully.

Philly Option A

We have 2 young studs in Wiggins and KAT who are still on their rookie contracts. Thing is with both of these guys, they can be studs. They're both really good offensively and defensively already and have the potential to make the next step into greatness on both ends of the court. That 2 way ability is what superstars need to win championships: Lebron, Kobe, TD, etc all have that quality... we've got 2 guys that could have that.

We have the top 2 guys (and I don't think many would argue that), but what gives us the chance of winning multiple in the next few years is the possibilities/potential around these 2

1) Max Cap space: We can offer someone the max and the ability to play with Wiggins and KAT.

2) Guys currently on our roster. Zach Lavine is still very young and given a starting role, could be a stud PG. Kormaz has TONs of potential. Otto Porter is looking VERY good recently and has the stud D quality. Even Dion Waiters, given a proper role could make big strides.

3) Dario Saric, he's very talented and coming over next year. He easily can be the #3 guy on a championship team if he develops.

4) Many first round picks to add talent: 2 this year with both being in the lottery which are top 10 picks (the Lakers future one doesn't count or I'd have 3), 3 in 2018, 2 in 2019, 3 in 2020

So in 3 years we will have
Zach Lavine, Dion Waiters, Andrew Wiggins, Nene, Karl Anthony Towns, Furkan Kormaz, Miles Plumlee, Otto Porter, MAX Free Agent 2017, 2 top 10 picks 2017, 3 first round picks 2018, 2 first round picks 2019, Dario Saric , 3 first round picks 2020
