San Francisco has cap space to absorb AD's deal.

We were not expecting an offer like this to be made, and four firsts is fairly steep, but what it boils down is that KAT may well be on his way to being a generational player, but AD already is one, so KAT, #11, and two future 1sts that may not be that great if our team gets better seemed like a legit deal for an extended AD, a legit franchise player, a top 3 player in the league, only 22 years old, set to be the star of whatever team he's on for the next decade. And we also get #14 thrown in.

We hope future generations will look back at this day as the day a new era of San Francisco basketball was ushered in.

We have oodles of cap space to spare, and while we hate to lose a talented young big man like Aaron Gordon, we don't have an overwhelming amount of hope for Vonleh or Capella, and this seemed like a good way to protect against striking out in FA. AD+Melo is a nice combo, or we could move Melo again for better talent than Vonleh and Capella. Either way, we'll also still have a nice chunk of cap space to play with too.

While we hate losing Carmelo (we believe in him), we had to move him. We had to cut salary, had to get more youth, and had to get more picks. AG just dropped 19/14/5 in his first real minutes. Vonleh has shown promise as of late with Portland. Capella also looks to be the real deal. Throw in a first this year, another solid first next year, and a future second, this sums up to be a great deal for Carmelo. I like this deal for us moving forward, with a younger core. Finally, San Francisco explicitly agrees that its own 2016 and 2018 picks - those which are to be conveyed if the 2016 Brooklyn or 2018 Dallas firsts, respectively, fall in their protected ranges - shall not moved until the draft order for their respective years is determined such that we are guaranteed to have them to convey if necessary.

We do this deal to add the Mannimal to a frontcourt that already feature Anthony Davis and Carmelo Anthony to create a rather ferocious trio. We love the defense, rebounding, athleticism, and strong finishing ability Kenneth brings to our frontcourt next to AD and Melo. His cheap salary this year is also a big plus, even though we'll have to pay him coming up.
