Same Standing Pairs Draft - Discussion

Post#1 » by durantbird » Thu Feb 1, 2024 6:59 pm

Draft Rules:

1. Seasons from 1999-00 to 2022-2023 will be eligible to be drafted.

2. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players in 4 rounds. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes in your rotations.

3. Each round you should select two players, who played in the selected season, each for one of the following club pairs:
- Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets
- Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies
- Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings
- Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns
- New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers
- Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors
- Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers
- Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves
- Toronto Raptors and New Orleans Pelicans
- Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder

The pairs were determined according to the standings of those teams in 2022-23 (top 10 clubs in each franchise).

You may only use one MVP or multiple First Team All NBA selectee in a pair. You may use seasons from predecessor franchises.

4. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 88.0 FGA with a minimum of 3.0 FGA per player corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player. NOTE: You may pick a player whose actual FGA number was lower than 3.0, but you still be charged 3.0 for that player.

5. Each player you select must have played at least 50% of regular season games in the season selected. Each player should play 50% of his games in the given season for the franchise he was chosen for.

6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA

7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, or if the player you have chosen is ineligible, you will be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to myself or another participant. NOTE: If you miss one pick and have failed to make it by the time your next pick comes around, you will be skipped.

8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.

9. Draft order will be completely randomized.

10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. Please note that the clock starts whenever the previous drafter has either made their pick or their two-hour window has expired, even if the next person is not quoted.

11. The winner of the draft will be determined by rankings, playoffs, or hybrid (depending on numbers).

Team Roster Page Rules:

You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:

. Players
. Rotations
. Draft selections
. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 88.0 FGA

-All of the above must be completed before playoffs/rankings begin.

I’ll play.

I think unless we get a larger set of participants than normal the time frame will need to be reduced significantly though.

I'll play, pairs drafts tend to be a bit more feasible, plus it's the weekend at least for the start so should work out with my schedule.

That gives us 10.

A good number in this day and age, but I'd love to see a couple more sign up. Not sure who's out there who hasn't yet, but I hope a few more give it a go.

Just want to clarify - could I choose 2011 Derrick Rose and 2023 Jalen Williams, or would I need to pair 2011 Derrick Rose with a 2011 Thunder player? I understand the whole franchise part, just want to clarify if it needs to be the same season for both players.

I didn't read it as both having to play in the same season. That seems like a pain in the ass honestly.

My initial read through I thought it had to be the same season, but that doesn't actually make much sense. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to be the same season, but just want to make 100% sure.

This is the part I wasn't sure about:
"Each round you should select two players, who played in the selected season, each for one of the following club pairs:"

I see nothing in the rules that suggests they must both be in the same season.
