Same Standing Pairs Draft - R2 - Fadeaway_J* vs Laimbeer

Post#1 » by durantbird » Fri Feb 9, 2024 9:47 am

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Please ensure you give a rationale for your vote; votes with no explanation will not be counted.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

**First to 3 votes advances.**

Mike Conley (38) / Alex Caruso (10)

Good luck, Fade.

On offense we have an excellent traditional build around one of the game's great clutch performers in Kobe. Fade's defense isn't particularly strong, and Booker will have his hands full with Kobe (or George if there's a switch). George is a top drawer secondary scorer with Conley providing another creator. With his length advantage, Deke should have some success in the low post and offensive rebounding (one of the league's best). He'll also be a solid P&R partner for Kobe and Conley. Spacing abounds down through the bench.

We have a nearly ideal trio of defenders for LeBron with George, Jones, and Williams all seeing time and giving him different looks. Siakim on Bridges and the rest straight up. They have a really good one two punch, but beyond Booker there isn't a great third option. A GOAT-type defensive anchor in Mutombo allowed to play low and surrounded by seven high level, athletic, switchy defenders will be tough for them to generate a lot ff offense against.

Fade has the more balanced team while also having the same level of star power in the top two (LBJ/Booker vs Kobe/PG). Laimbeer has the defensive edge but I don't think it's THAT large, largely because I'm probably higher on 2023 Booker's defense than most.

I guess I prefer Fade's offense with Lebron at the controls a fair amount over Laimbeer's, which seems to me like it might get a little iso-heavy. Laimbeer's defense is better, but I guess I see Lebron being enough to pull through that. So I'm voting Fade here.

I like Lebron/Booker more as a top 2 on offense though Laimbeer has a stronger 4th/5th best starters. I think Mutombo will have a great series on D being able to stay near the basket and I could see Bridges not being able to handle Kobe (then again I don't know if Lebron will be stopped by Thunder George). The benches are close enough. Very hard but I think I'll go with the better offensive team in Fade while if you guard Kobe well Laimbeer's may be easy to stop. Vote Fadeaway.

I was about to post my vote for Laimbeer earlier, but seems like this is done already.

I just realised I edited my next writeup into this thread rather than copy-pasting into the next one. Genius. :noway:

The world will never know how I managed to overcome Laimbeer I guess.
