Shaq Franchises Draft - R2 - MadNess* vs Dr Positivity

Post#1 » by durantbird » Mon Mar 25, 2024 11:29 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

**First to 3 votes wins the championship**

GL MadNESS, big fan of your team!

Defensive matchups: Paul on KJ, Majerle on Allen, Rashard on Dudley, Metta on Nance, Kareem on KG. Metta will guard Worthy will he's in the game.

MadNESS has a very deep team though I feel Kareem and Suns Paul is a better top 2 than KG and any of his perimeter players. If KG guards Kareem it will both compromise his help defense and make him more tired on offense and his team needs him on that end. Worthy is a nice talent off the bench but when he's in the game he could be lower on 3pt shooting than mine such as a lineup like KJ/Allen/Worthy/Nance/KG and with Walton as a primary backup. Cooper is only as good a shooter as MWP in my opinion and his playmaking when KJ is out of the game could only be ok. In short we feel pretty good about guarding his team in the halfcourt, we have the right matchups such as solid defensive guards against KJ/Allen and Kareem up front, Paul has to spend some energy guarding KJ but I think KJ guarding Paul is overall a bigger problem for him. Our bench may not be as talented as his but Grant is a nice 6th man, Redick gives us another great shooter and Delly is also a solid 3 and D player. In the end the skill of Paul and Kareem can close it out.

All Star | Champion | 40% 3’s

87’-88’ Michael Cooper - 7.9 FGA
All NBA D 1 | Champion | DPOY (6)

86’-87’ James Worthy - 14.7
All Star | Champion

Total: 87.6 | 88.0

Attack with a downhill point guard on offense with shooters on the wings and athletes for the bigs. We can space, we can run, we can half court when needed. We have multiple defensive anchors and the deepest bench in the draft. Champions everywhere. All stars everywhere. Basically if you don’t have accolades you ain’t on my team (other than Dudley). KG and Ray Allen fit perfectly. KJ is the key here. Nance is an ultra athlete. Coop, Worthy and Walton off the bench is just poetic. Pick your poison with this group.

Write Up: good luck Dr. P

Plan on having KG guard KAJ. Walton will also see some time on him. We will front pass to him and try to eliminate when he gets the ball. I do plan on sending Dudley to double here and there off of MWP.

Plan on running against this team. I don’t see the transition defense here. KJ will push the pace. Shard will have a very hard time with Nance. Majerle will have a tough time guard Ray Ray on transition.

Our bench is considerably deeper than his. Cooper will see some time slowing down CP3 too or taking the hot hand away from Majerle if that’s the case.

Worthy will be killing this team off the bench. I don’t care what anyone says.

My team is too fast, too athletic and too smart to not move past this round. Too many winners. My team is built of champions.

Vote Ness.

The spacing is very good around Kareem, but Ness has a clear edge in firepower all across the roster. I also buy his superior team speed and athleticism combined with his transition-oriented gameplan creating a major competitive advantage against Dr P's group.

Two great teams. MadNess has amazing depth but I don't really like KG having to guard Kareem, and Nance is a bit too small to help.

Also I don't like the shooting in the KJ-Worthy-Nance minutes.

Ugh was hoping I wouldn't need to vote on this one because it's so close.

I think Ness ultimately just has more horses and the depth advantage is just enough to tip the scales in what I'd see as a true 7 game tossup.

I don't think this is a great CP3 team. There's no P&R or P&P partner, no explosive transition threat, and I don't see CP3 working as well with KAJ as Magic did because he's a much more conservative passer. The spacing around KAJ is great but I don't like the overall offensive synergy of the team. However, the offensive synergy on Ness's team is fantastic with a dynamic scorer/creator in Johnson surrounded by spacing big men and another dynamic perimeter scorer. I also like Ness's bench. I should have pointed out in my write up Bucks Oscar's halfcourt style is a good model for Paul-KAJ, but overall I don't have a complaint about losing to MadNESS strong team
