And he is huge. I would be surprise to find out that gobert at peak elevations reach is as high as peak amares reach of the jump even though amare is a freak athlete.

Rudy is effective and efficient. He’s just not a volume scorer.

Not to mention, 7'1'' Gobert isn't suited for the 7-seconds-or-less offense. Nash is at his best when running on the open court. Gobert is mobile for his size, but he's nowhere near Amar'e's level when it comes to explosiveness and athleticism. Nash would frequently have to wait for Gobert to set him up which would considerably slow down the tempo of the game. At that point, you'd probably be better off with a half-court specialist like Luka or CP3. Don't get me wrong, Nash was amazing in the half court as well. It's just that you don't maximize his offensive potential anymore.

D-wise, Gobert can be exposed in the PnP, especially against teams running a 5-out offense. It's not like he has no defensive weaknesses.

A true 5-out offense is extremely rare.

He was super effective against Boston and Phoenix, for example.

He hasnt really been exposed this season in ther pnp.

Also, as long as he secures a board and tosses to nash, he can just trail the play.

With Vince and Marion and Nash running thats the main 7sol i need and bell trailing as well.

Gobert, in my plan, would defend rim, rebound, start a break and trail it so if something isnt there fast he can start setting screens

Here's what I'm talking about.

secondary fast break

secondary fast break

primary fast break

Amar'e was a post runner. He could be the first man to run down the court. That's not Gobert's game. The allure of Nash compared to other elite floor generals like CP3 or Luka is a) he's a better shooter and b) he's a better open-court player. Both these traits are massively important in the modern era, but they come at the expense of poor defense. He's at his best with mobile, explosive rim runners like KG, AD, Amar'e, Bam, etc. By pairing him with a half-court big you don't take full advantage of his strengths anymore, but you still have to compensate for his weak defense. Neither Gobert nor Nash can defend the perimeter. That's far from ideal against teams which run perimeter-oriented offenses.

I'd argue there are at least 2 teams in this draft which can run a legit 5-out offense. I'm not even counting teams with excelent spacing like db's team with Jokic being a post-up heavy scorer, wack's team with KG lacking 3pt range, Ness' team with Bosh lacking 3pt range in his Raps days and Arvydas being a low-volume 3pt shooter or Snake's team with 2 legit stretch bigs, but Pippen at SF. Highly doubt Gobert can defend anybody on Snake's team despite Pippen's unreliable 3pt shot. The NBA has come a long way since the emergence of analytics. It was only a matter of time before our fantasy games were impacted as well.

Jury's still out on this season, but I distinctively remember Gobert being unusable in the 2021 playoffs against the Clips cause he couldn't defend the corner 3. The Clips starting lineup was Reggie Jackson - Paul George - Kawhi - Batum - Marcus Morris. Zubac started only 1 game and came off the bench in 5 games. The Jazz had the best record in the NBA that season, yet they flamed out in the 2nd round.

Personally, I'm fairly low on drop bigs unless they are offensive goliaths like Jokic, Embiid, Shaq, Wilt or transcendent 2-way players like Timmy. That's just my opinion though. Other posters may view it differently. Gobert is an elite rim protector and a great PnR finisher, no doubt about that.

I always wondered why Amare didn't get taken more in these games, looks like that's starting to change

Technically, he didn't play 50% of the regular season games for one of the eligible teams.

Here's the quote from the OP in this thread:

It's a different wording in the OP of the draft thread.

I've been wrong before. Just wanna make sure I won't end up with more than 88 FGA.

does KD qualify under "must have played 50% of games of his games in the season" for one of the teams. (39 & 9)

Even by that wording 2022-23 qualifies.

He played 47 games in the season, 39 of which were for an eligible franchise. That's 83%. He also played more than 50% of the 82 regular season games in that season.
