I used to be a believer in the conventional wisdom that the performance of team's in the second half of the season had strong predictive value. Now I have doubts.
Have there been any studies on the predictive value of team performance going into the PS?

Thanks for the response. The reason I asked is that I used to consider momentum to be a big factor but as I thought about recent example over the years I found so many counter examples such as 2010.
