What stat or stats is the best way to see if a player is a playmaker or not?

You're probably getting close to a reasonable ranking with something like
PTS + X*AST
where X is a factor that needs to be determined, could be 1, likely less than 3
Could work in turnovers, or use AST/TO instead.
"potential assists" that led to misses could be used, but hard to come by, and with a big enough sample, standard assists are probably fine

Box creation, a stat made by the youtube channel "Thinking basketball" does a really good job of estimating the shots a player creates for his teammates
