I'd trade for him only on the condition that he signs an extension. We don't have pieces, I mean we do, but we'd have to swallow the pill and decide on trading either Blatche or McGee.

^ That's easy - deal McGee. It's been reported that the Lakers won't re-sign Mbenga, so we'll be good.

It's not going to happen but I'm offering up Blatche/McGee and whatever it takes if Denver would take it.....

Wall
Arenas
Anthony
Seraphin
Whatever

Sign some guys floating about a la Miami and see what happens. Leonsis likely won't do it but if Seraphin develops next year wow could be quite a squad.

Prefer to stay the course however I think that lineup hinders Wall's progression.

Would have been great if we had Butler's contract still. We could have dangled that, either McGee or Blatche, plus a 1st round pick and that would have been enough.

Too bad we got $13 million in cap room tied up in Kirk Hinrich & Yi. It would have been awesome If we had cap room.

It illustrates a larger point I made a while back. Flexibility! Don't throw away cap room room just b/c its there. How much stronger an offer could we make if we offering immediate cap savings & prospects as opposed to expirings & prospects?

Dat - on the flip side though, if we hadn't trade Butler, et al...we probably wouldn't have John Wall.

Oh, I'm glad we did trade Butler. My point was that this was an example of where Hinrich's contract works against us.

I think it could be a bad deal for both teams. I think last year was a bit of a fluke in terms of his production. Statistically last year he looked similar to a rusty Arenas. However for his career he is closer to JR Smith's production last season.

I think this also could be a deal that would be lose-lose. For the Wizards there would be a down-grade and for the Hawks it might help in the short run, but having both Arenas and Joe Johnson's contracts probably won't look too good in a year or two.

I think Billups for Crawford and incentive would make a lot more sense, assuming the Nuggets deal Anthony.

^ Yeah, I was shocked that Crawford would actually take this stance. He played so well and the pundits basically credited him for Atlanta's success, basically his value is at an all-time high IMO. Why go somewhere else where he'll probably just be the old Jamal Crawford? I can understand him wanting an extension before the new CBA, but if he gets traded that other other team isn't extending him either? IMO he's better off maximizing another season with the Hawks and praying that the new CBA is going to be friendly to his wallet.

I'd do it as part of a "Trojan Horse" strategy. With Arenas on the books, Atlanta won't be able to resign Horford. We'd have enough cap room throw a max salary at Horford if need be. Effectively, it would be an Arenas for Horford + Crawford trade, only we'd get the side benefit of tanking for one more season in the interim so we could land a top notch swing man in the draft. Sign Tayshaun Prince and resign Young and in one year, our lineup would be:

PG Wall/Hinrich
SG 2011 lotto pick/Young
SF Prince/Booker
PF Blatche/Seraphin
C Horford/McGee

Yup. That would work.

I wouldn't trade Arenas for Horford straight up.

But then again, I'm not the biggest Horford fan either.

My hope is that Yi, Thornton and Young all have big years while Howard and Blatche are out, and that EG would be able to move them for valueable picks once Howard and Blatche are ready to play. The odds of that happening are pretty slim, but my hopes are the first 3 Wizards traded are Yi, Thornton and Young.

Of the three players listed, Nick Young is the most likely to either be traded or given his walking papers first.

+1

It's gotta be Nick, especially if he comes in this season and shows no improvement to his all-round game and continues playing like an oversized Juan Dixon, he's as good as gone.

of those three, nick young.

blatche is untouchable as of right now. the only concievable reason for trading him that i can think of is if seraphin or yi come out and explode and play unbelievable ball, enough to look like one of them could be a legit starter going forward. and blatche regresses somewhat. and even then i would only trade him for a lotto pick or something really good. the chances of all that happening are about the same as lebron requesting a trade to toronto.

there is no point trading mcgee this year. but if he doesnt make much progress at all this season i wouldnt be against shipping him out in the offseason for a first rounder.

as much as i love hinrich and ive wanted him here for a few years... he could go to a team in need of a PG by the deadline. he is worth a pick and an expiring at least.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Trade thread on the Bobats board involving Arenas etc.

viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1048589

Personally, I think this is a horrible trade but I'm sure those of you who would trade Arenas for a ham sandwich and and think that Blatche is a "tease" will love it.

I would ship Crash to Washington for Arenas, something alone the lines of this:

Arenas | Thornton | Blatche | Young

for

Wallace | Diop | Diaw | Augustin

New Franchise player to replace Crash in Arenas and three young players (all solid players) to replace Diaw, Augustin, and Diop. Nice return and we won't skip a beat with Thornton/Young and Blatche starting with Gilly in the lineup.

I like Crash, but that's a pretty ugly trade. Taking on Diop and Diaw (I assume they both have negative contracts at this point?) and losing Blatche while getting the very average Henderson? I don't like it.

I would consider something like Arenas + Mcgee for Crash + Dampier. I like Crash a lot, and he's exactly the type of player I love cheering for as a fan, plus I think he would be great to pair with Wall and Blatche. Dampier's contract, of course, would set us up beautifully for the future, be it a Melo run or whatever.
