Apparently he wants 4-5 years. I'd offer 5 years at 10 mil. He can probably produce at a similar rater for 3 years, have one down year and then his expiring becomes an asset in the final year.
I hope it doesn't go more then 4 years 11 million...

I wouldn't mind a long contract so long as the price is reasonable. But these may all be fantasies with Terd and Ernie at the helm.

4 years $44 million is what we'll see.
Anything higher and it's idiotic.

If the last year was only partially guaranteed, I wouldn't be opposed to that because it would mean smaller annual salaries.
$8.5M
$9.25M
$10M
$10.75M
$11.5M (50% guaranteed)
Total potential value = $50M, but we can get out of the last year for less than $6M (and it also makes Gortat a valuable trade chip at the end of his deal)
EDIT TO ADD: I'm proposing this as an alternative to the 4 for $44M that many are expecting. If we can get Gortat for less (maybe the 3 years, $36M that Bogut re-signed for) then of course that's even better.

That's my point - with longer contract we have more cash flexibility every year.

Re: Marcin Gortat Polish Hammer appreciation thread.
What other teams will be rushing to give Gortat a 4-5 year deal? At this point most teams have filled their starting C void. I can't think of any other team who'd pay Gortat 4/44, Dallas was my only worry but they just got Chandler.
We don't need to outbid ourselves, a 3/36 is what I've been proposing as well. I know it won't happen though

4 or 5 can be 4.
I start the bidding at 3/30 or 3/33 and negotiate from there.
Dallas is out of the mix now and they were probably the greatest treat to sign him.
He made $7,727,280 last year. 11M is a 3.3M raise. That's a 47% increase. 11.5M is a round 50%
But its probably going to take more like 11 or 12M a year.
11.5M is a fare deal. 3/34.65
But I would like to see him signed a 10M. But thats not in line with other starting centers.
Noah average 12.4 over the next 3 years.
Bogat will average 12M over the next 3 years.
3/36 would be fair. I'm pretty confident they sign him for something that seems in line with the going rate.

Re: Marcin Gortat Polish Hammer appreciation thread.
Polish media PAP suggested that Washington Wizards are trying to persuade Marcin, by coming to Poland. That's why coach Randy Witman and vice-president of WW Tommy Shepherd booked today their flight to my country.
Gortat is now in Cracov organising his youth camps and there Wittman/Shepherd are expected to come. The talks will be run by Marcin's agent Guy Zucker. That's all between 8-12 mln 4/5 years.

I predict the starting salaries of both Gortat and Ariza will be more than $20 million combined next season.

Re: Marcin Gortat Polish Hammer appreciation thread.
FWIW, Zach Lowe tweeted that Miami could have interest in Gortat with money they free up with all this Big 3 Opting out wranglings.
Zach Lowe @ZachLowe_NBA 23m
Non-Lowry name I'd watch for Miami if they can open enough space beyond Big 3: Marcin Gortat.

So, LeBron wants a max which would start at like, $21 million, right?
Wade and Bosh each making $15 million starting..

Rumored targets for the Heat include point guard Kyle Lowry, forward Trevor Ariza and center Marcin Gortat.

To clarify. Are you saying their staring salaries here ?
If so, that would be a good over/under bet if you want to be the bookie.
MG 12
TA 8
But it gets interesting if the deals have any front loading. It would be a good betting line. Its tricky.
Since its always less likely that a team gets tricky with these things then not, I would have to take to under is 20 was a push.
Thats if they both sign here.

I think the Wizards should front-load his deal. With retaining Miller there isn't an easy scenario to cap space this season. Also with Nene on the books, their probably won't be cap room next off-season either. However luxury tax concerns don't really kick in until Beal needs an extension, so having Gortat on a smaller salary helps there.
My prediction:
$11.5M
$10.75M
$10M
$9.25M(50% guarrantee)

I agree that your proposal is better for the Wizards, but I think other teams would beat that (even if only by fully guaranteeing the 4th year). Besides, the biggest issue is 2016 IMO, and both of our proposals have him making the same amount that year ($10M).
