That doesn't mean he's not useful or effective, CCJ. From what I can tell in the playoffs, it seems as though he's probably redundant on a team full of offense-first scorers. On a team like the Wizards who struggle to score, I think he'd be very useful.

With that said you've got to think Ernie would focus on a big in the draft. Not really a fan of Zeller, but the stars seem to be aligning towards him :(

What ?

He said nothing that leads to that conclusion. He doesn't have an ACL. Given his injury type, he should be ready to start the season. He just needs to rest some. And then he needs to work on conditioning. If or when we get information to states his injuries as different or not recovering, then you can make an educated estimate that is different.

For the Jack fans.

dude, he said he was hurting so bad that he was considering retirement and that he just wanted to rest his body

A statement like that is crazy and you have to wonder if he'll be 100% ready to go by training camp. You've gotta wonder if he isn't going to get scoped and find something wrong somewhere or something if you're going to make a statement like that.

You might want to watch his exit interview where he talks about that. If you don't, then I suggest you forget you ever hear he said that. He has.

That statement got overblown on this board. He was just venting because he was frustrated.

Meh. That was true until the last couple of years. He's improved quite a bit on the defensive end. Just like Boozer in Chicago, he's learned to be a good physical positional defender GS would be missing him badly if Bogut hadn't gotten healthy and raised his game. Would I trade for him? Probably not - considering he's another 30 year old and what it would take to get him.

That's my view on Lee. He's a good player that I would not trade Okafof for him. I think I would trade Nene for Lee.

Nenes worse case scenario is being inefficient offensively while being pretty good defensively, with the upside being there's the potential he showed shortly before the lockout and his Olympic runs, which were 120+ ORTG years with only a slight updtick in DRTG, meaning the best of both worlds.

I don't think Lee is worth it, as Nenes decline seems to be clearly due to injury, which explanations of a lockout year/fast paced schedule and still playing in the olympics as the reasoning, there's still at least a good chance that he could return to form, which would put him a couple of tiers above Lee at least.

I'd rather have just gotten Smoove if I was thinking about Lee. You at least get strong defense and rebounds for sure there, the extra millions being worth the health and guaranteed production in two areas where we need it most.

I don't want to touch Josh Smith given the fat, long term contract that is going to be attached to him.

I think I would trade Nene for David Lee though. Lee is a much better pick-and-pop threat and would significantly improve the spacing of our offense. He's also a year younger and has proven to be much more durable. He has missed an average of 4 games a year over the past 6 years.

The main drawback of Lee is that he doesn't really have the ability to play center without severely detracting from the defense. Trading for Lee would make a lot more sense if we ended up drafting a guy like Dieng or Adams to handle backup C minutes when Okafor sits.

Nene for Lee might work, but a better option would be to acquire a quality stretch four like Ilyasova or Anderson and run with a 3-big rotation of Anderson, Okafor and Nene off the bench.

I like Ilyasova. I think they don't mind giving him up since they have their future PF and C locked up in Sanders and Henson, but its going to depend on if they embrace the tank or not. If they let Reddick, Ellis, and Jennings walk then they'll probably walk away with a Jabari Parker or Wiggins next year, which would be the smart move for a quick rebuild.

Not sure that giving them any of our guys helps them in the long or short term though. We could probably get away with Ariza + This years pick for Ersan seeing as though Ariza probably doesn't hurt their tank , becomes an expiring, and it makes the contracts match, but what do you guys think about that?

Preferably they accept that deal with the pick being an unprotected 2014 pick, but I'm not sure if they go for that or not.

I think a stretch PF like Arnett Moutrie would be better for the Wizards on a rookie wage scale than David Lee.

Not a fan of the Ilyasova deal. I just don't want to touch potential '14 cap space for a "need" acquisition that will cap our future upside IMO. Add in the cost (probably the pick) and no thanks.....

I don't think I do the deal for this years pick either. For next years pick though, assuming we're out of the lottery, I can't see there being a player available that can match Ilyasovas production.

Next years draft is going to be stacked. There will be some one good their. just like this draft we should not just trade a way picks, we just need to make better picks thats all.

Could we do something like Ariza+Vesely for Kris Humphries? Doesn't change our longterm cap situation, but gives us a solid backup PF for next year. Humphries seems to be out of favor in BKN, and Ariza would give them depth plus allow them to go small with Wallace at PF.

Is Blatche then the default starter? I'd be fine with getting Vesely somewhere else, but I kind of liked Ariza's game, especially his giving Wall another long range shooter to work with, and he's a good defense playing model for younger players. Ariza might be much happier showcasing himself in Brooklyn. I prefer some of the Nene for Humphries trade proposals more.

No way would I trade Ariza for Humphries. Ariza is a better player, and a superior defender.

Pistons fan here, any chance you trade Wall for a package centered around Greg Monroe? Party line is that we will give you anything except our lottery pick or Drummond

Absolutely zero chance of this happening. At this point, the question is just if he gets a four or five year max and then if there's an ETO in the contract.

The Wizards Owner in April wrote:....what we’re going to do with John to keep him with the team for a long, long time. I think the fans would expect that to try to keep the nucleus of the team together and add around it.”

Will the Wizards give John Wall a max contract?

According to several persons with knowledge of the situation who talked with CSN Washington, all the signals point to the answer being yes.

*snip*

Wall seems certain about his future.

"Nah, I don’t plan on it," he said of becoming a restricted free agent after next season and wanting to test the market. "I like it here. This is the city where my dad was born and raised. I want to give something back and start it here. I don’t like to follow. I like to lead my own way."

I remember not being a Wall fan his first 2 1/2 seasons. Funny how things have changed. He made a believer out of me.

I am thrilled at his desire to stay in DC to build something special as a member of the Wizards

In all honesty I was just trying to gauge interest. The people on our board are all over him.. I'm sure it's nice to have a franchise player like that because the Pistons can't seem to find one if there life depended on it
