We have a large Jewish community. = The Washington Whitefish
But this was America's capital.
- Washington Freedom
- Washington Liberty
- Washington Justice
- Washington Law
- Washington Eagles
- Washington Stars
Non of these really work for me except for a play off the bold eagle could be cool or stars for stars and stripes. Go back to red white and blue
Playing off the Indian
-Washington Pride
-Washington Tribe
Weather - This could work well. Imagine the openings for the games.
-Washington Lightening
-Washington Storm
I think I like this directions. Storms are powerful. They can jump on your quickly.
Or go with an Animal.
Washington Sharks
Washington Wolves but they have the Timberwolves already
I guess my favorites are
- Washington Stars
- Washington Lightening
- Washington Storm
- Washington Sharks
If we go with stars, we could have that national pride red white and blue thing going with some pretty cool game opens.
Lightning or Storm could make for cool game opening also. Would be interesting to see the uni for either.

Well, this isn't exactly a uniform overhaul, but the Wizards' unis will now apparently have v-necks.
Here's a video of John Wall being interviewed, wearing the new v-neck jersey.
Other teams like the Spurs, Hawks, Wolves, etc., have made subtle changes to the necks of their respective jersey as well.
I should note that a number certain teams with uniforms with thick piping and crew necks have suffered from "bacon neck" (the term recently coined in those annoying Hanes commercials); that doesn't happen with v-necks. I've noticed it with the Wizards and Arenas in particular:
But I've seen it on Duncan, too:
The Cs don't have that problem, but their trim is a lot thinner, at least to my eyes.
So, it could just be an attempt to address a performance issue as the league rolls out new pro-fit style mesh jerseys this year.
But from an aesthetic perspective: I don't like it. They still need to undergo a complete uniform/logo redesign.

Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

From the comments in the article above "Washington Justice" stood out as a catchy nickname.

That was my choice. Basketball is played on courts after all. And I always figured we could use some justice coming out of Washington. Has a call out to MLK, let justice roll down like waters. And who wouldn't want to rock Justice gear? Pretty much anyone with something to say would rep our team.

"A great name would have been the Washington Justice with red, white and blue jerseys with a giant gavel/hammer logo. That would rock. The Supreme Court is in DC, plus with all the lawyers in town that name would rock.
They could nickname the floor "Supreme Court" with the press announcer yelling all rise!! They could have sound effects of slamming gavels when they make a defensive play. They could even have a judge for a mascot."

Well, given what they play with, how about the Washington Balls?
I can hear the color commentator now... "those nuts, they're at it again!"

This is always kind of fun to do. Wizards is ok, but it just seems it could be something better....
Maybe something historically relevant.
The Washington....
Revolution
Rebels
Free Masons
Continentals
Glory
A name I always thought interesting is Capitols. It was the name of the first NBA team in D.C., and had the first black player to play in the NBA, Earl Lloyd. Of course the hockey team is the Capitals, but the logos can be quite different, theirs with the L as a hockey stick... the "o" in Capitols could be a basketball.
The arena would be filled with chants of LETS GO CAPS! Also another tie in is Cap is slang for Bullet....

Re: Poll: Team name change, if not Bullets?
When the name change to Wizards happened, I remember being quite against it, and I hated the Wizards name. Now, I am ambivalent about the name. I do think that a name change would do the team some good, and if done properly, could tie the franchise a lot better to the community at large, and have a better chance to have more/better worldwide notoriety.

If we don't go back to the Bullets (& obviously we won't) & the Balls doesn't work (& apparently wasn't even funny, given the zero response!), how about the Washington Ballots.
I guess it might be a reach, given that Washingtonians don't even get a representative in congress!

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.
