Who over paid this off season.

They have the wrong number in for Gortat. He isn't making 12M, he is making 10.4M

I tried to recap the summer for Ernie and Co. Take a look if you get a chance. I still can't understand the Seraphin move whatsoever. I'd love to hear the logic but it can't exist....

You might want to post that in the grade the off season thread.

As for Russ Smith....
He does look like he would have fit nicely. Pesky quick PG defender. He would have needed some molding for sure. No way he would be allowed to jack shots like he did in college. But the teachers are on the Wizards. He would have been an interesting character to add to the roster. But love the energy.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2092 ... russ-smith

Seemed like the perfect fit.

Keeping Seraphin is puzzling. He is a big with some skills, but especially considering it looks like they will also keep Harrington, it's going to be a crowded front court.

I guess they're hoping guys like Harrington and Blair will rub off on Seraphin in a positive way as far as his toughness, and mental approach.

Throw a little bit of $$$ towards Barbosa, see if he bites? I like him, and he can run an offense a bit. Still need a combo guard.
Will you fools ever realize that when the cameras are on and the microphones are hot, they are Lying to you! Lying to illicit a prescribed reaction, to easier manipulate you.

Yeah I've always liked Barbosa, seems he's healthy now. We had him, maybe in the Crawford trade not sure, he could be a fit for us. I agree I'd like to add another guard. Guys that have been mentioned in addition to Barbosa are Ray Allen, Mo Williams, Jordan Crawford, Roger Mason, Silva and Sessions.

However it seems all our roster spots are filled unless there's a trade. The final roster spot is reportedly being kept for Al Harrington.

The FO has nearly botched Seraphin as an asset, and the FO knows-it otherwise they would have let him walk. I don't know how it will be possible to turn things around for Kevin given the depth chart.

I missed the article on Harrington. Ridiculous. How many lockerroom leaders can one team have? Did Swaggy P, McGee, and Blatche really put that much fear into this FO. And where's the roste balance?

It is funny. I'm picturing a locker room scene with Paul Pierce giving a Vince Lombardi like speech "winning isn't everything, it's the only thing!". Then Al Harrington follows with a motivational speech ala Belushi in Animal House "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hello no!". Then Andre Miller gets up and says something about "When we were kids we had to walk to school in the snow with no shoes!", with Wall and Beal sitting there rolling their eyes thinking "come on can we go play some ball??".

We might not be the best team on the court, but we're sure as hell gonna be the best team in the locker room!!

Meanwhile, Jordan Crawford is still looking for a team...

As is Blatche. And mystery man Emeka Okafor.

And another ex-Wizard...

You'll are to funny.

Always something to grip about. Building a team is a process. Well we just got through the draft Otto #3 to give Wall and Beal a 3rd young wheel and TA might leave process. Land PP on a two year as a bridge.. check that took one year to play out. Actually longer if you consider the whole chain....

Gil > Lewis > TA/Okafor > TA/Gortat, draft Otto, TA leaves, Sign Pierce. We finally have SFs who can dribble and shoot.

Build out the front court - check

The off season isn't over. As for Kevin S. I have no read on them wanting to keep him. Just because the signed him doesn't mean he will be staying. It just means he is an asset under their control still.

I was readying he still might be used in the Love to CLE deal and we might get a pick in return. If not, we can still get something for him. Bigs will go down during the preseason/season and teams will need help. Kevin training with Nene, Gortat, Hump and D Blair is going to be good for him.

He had a knee issue last year that he got fixed. That held him back last year.

FIBA released a list of players who wouldn't be competing in the Basketball World Cup in Spain on Thursday which included Seraphin. The Wizards would not release him to play.

When you might trade someone, you want to make sure they don't get injured.

They have been making good moves. Just have some patience and lets see how this plays out before acting like this is something carved in stone and they can't make anymore moves. What you see now is just a snap shot. The team will keep evolving. They even have an open roster spot.

They still have some cap and TPE. Kev could get moved for a player or more CAP/TPE. They can sign vet min

Kind of hoping they get one of these remaining FAs for vet min. At some point, that's going to start happening. Those players are still waiting to see if they can get more money right now.

Interesting to consider Rip. Not sure I would want to sign him but at some point in the season, him on a 10 day would be interesting if he doesn't sign some where this summer.

Dante Cunningham was a player I had interest in. He is still out there.

I agree with those interested in Barbosa. That would be a nice fit.

O'Neal, Jermaine could make a nice back up center if they move Kevin

Sessions would be a nice add. As well as Mo Williams.

Any of those players would be nice additions.

Hope they get the Kevin Love deal done in principle this week so we know if Kevin S will be used in that trade so we can finish building the team.

Please, no more washed up old people. No Barbosa. No Jermaine O'Neal. No Rip Hamilton. We have all the "team leaders" and "veteran savvy" any team would ever want in Miller, Pierce, Nene and Harrington. Adding any more guys like that isn't going to make our younger players any smarter. They're just going to take up a roster spot that could otherwise be used by a young prospect.

Right now, we lack a backup PG with any kind of athletic advantage over the competition. If Wall gets hurt, we will suddenly be the slowest and least athletic team in the league. We also lack any frontcourt player younger than 30 who factors into our future (unless Blair develops a reliable jumper). We don't have a long, lanky defensive frontcourt player either.

We should be targeting players of that type for acquisition via trade or free agency. If we can't get one, then we should stand pat and wait for a trade opportunity to arise mid-season. I'm hoping that both Blair and Humphries play really well, making one of them trade bait. An ideal scenario would be trade Humphries (and possibly incentive) for a PG or defensive big from the 2013 draft class (McCollum, Schroder, Dieng, Adams). That way, we get one more young piece and an athleticism boost, all without impacting our 2016 cap flexibility.

If we're talking 3rd pg, what about another ex-Wizard AJ Price?

I thought he played pretty well for us.

Nate

I wouldn't add them at this point to make younger players smarter. I would add them because they do something we need for one year at a price that is good for the cap. And they are a good fit and the best thing available.

As for AH. Lets see if he actually make the team. He isn't on it yet.

Personally. I'm not seeing how he fits. I know people have posted they said they have a slot of him if he want to play. Still not seeing it. Not with 14 signed and all the front court players they have.

But a vet back up SG. I can see that.

And if they move Kevin, I could see a back up center.

McCollum and Dieng are player I have mentioned a lot.

Schroder and Adam, I have very very little faith would be available. Actually, I thing even Gorgui Dieng would be a long shot. But man that would be sweet. CJM and Gorgui Dieng were big draft targets for me. And I liked Adams as well. If we could add Adams some how that would be awesome.

He messed up his chance by showing how many guns he had. I def do think this upcoming season is Millers last and see him on the coaching staff sometime sooner or later. Then you got Otto Sr running the backup point again :D .

Otto Sr..

Took me a sec to get that.

Otto's body double. Just to keep the other team confused.

Some reaming FAs and destinations.

Thanks hands, good resources there.. never heard of this guy Bo McCaleb, could be interesting. Also see Wizards attended a workout of Dahntey Jones.

Still like Roger Mason as a final roster spot, but he's not on here.
