Through Monday games...

Kelly Olynyk -- 162
Gorgui Dieng -- 136
Otto Porter -- 106
Dennis Schröder -- 147
Rudy Gobert -- 114
Alex Len -- 94
Solomon Hill -- 88
Mason Plumlee -- 106
Cody Zeller -- 66
Giannis Antetokounmpo -- 97

Hmmm, and I wanted us to trade down for two of Olynyk, Dieng, Gobert or Plumlee... probably wouldn't have been possible - but that would have been pretty nice.

Trading down was not really an option in that draft. No one was all that impressed with the top talent going in.

Week 5 - interesting changes with previously unranked Nikola Mirotic, Kostas Papanikolaou and Shabazz Napier breaking into the top 10.

Using WS/48 with minutes greater than 175, Porter falls to 7th.

Otto staying in the top 5? Giannis or Otto the best wing?

Adding 3rd year players, Beal is clearly struggling this year in pretty much every statistical category:

KJ McDaniels makes the case that you should always use your second round pick.

Not only use your second round pick, but acquire others and use them too. Second rounders get non-guaranteed contracts at the minimum. Great place to take chances on talented guys who might fill out the end of a rotation...or better. Worst case, they're training camp fodder and easily released. There's zero risk for the team.

Porter didn't make it into the top 10

I think you could argue he is very close

Nivek, could I have your rankings for the sophomores and juniors please?

Minutes played greater than 400

OK, I guess the race starts anew with Parker's injury.

Totally forgot. Might do a stat update today. If so, I'll get this up.

TY! So far it looks like the rookie class isn't much to write home about (at least in terms of what they are contributing this season). The sophomores are contributing nicely as are the juniors.

Rookies through last night's games with at least 250 minutes:

Code: Select all

PLAYER          TEAM    GMS     MPG     PPA
Nikola Mirotic  CHI     27      18.6    113
Jabari Parker   MIL     25      29.5    112
James Ennis     MIA     27      13.9    93
Tarik Black     HOU     25      15.7    89
Nerlens Noel    PHI     23      30.5    72
Bojan Bgdnvc    BRK     26      26.1    64
K.J. McDaniels  PHI     25      25.0    57
Kyle Anderson   SAS     18      15.2    55
Shabazz Napier  MIA     25      21.0    49
Joe Ingles      UTA     29      15.9    47
Kostas Ppnklu   HOU     22      24.6    45
Elfrid Payton   ORL     30      24.7    43
P.J. Hairston   CHO     17      15.2    43
Dante Exum      UTA     29      18.0    31
Andrew Wiggins  MIN     26      30.7    27
Zach LaVine     MIN     23      25.3    18
Damjan Rudez    IND     27      15.4    12
Rodney Hood     UTA     19      17.0    9
Nik Stauskas    SAC     28      13.5    1

Not a very impressive group. Basically half are at or below replacement level. Only two guys rate better than average, and one of them just tore his ACL and is done for the season.

I'll get you 2nd and 3rd year guys tomorrow.

A couple of second year guys had pretty good games last night.

Shroeder and C.J. McCollum had 22 and 17 points, respectively. Shroeder's contribution came in an ATL win over Dallas, with Teague missing from ATL's lineup. McCollum is starting to look like the player I thought he'd become.
Bye bye Beal.

C.J. McCollum has had terrible injury luck.

But as you know, I was a big supporter of him as our back up PG/SG option for this team.
