Official Thread - Wizards at Heat (12/19/14)

___1st Southeast Div / 2nd Eastern Conf_____________3rd Southeast Div / 7th Eastern Conf

Winners of their last 5 in a row (longest winning streak in the Eastern Conference) and 9 of their last 10, YOUR Washington Wizards fly south to escape the winter's cold for a Friday night match-up with division rivals the Miami Heat.

The Heat have been hit hard by recent injuries to their bigs, with PF/C Josh McRoberts out for the season with a knee injury and PF/C Chris Bosh out for an unspecified amount of time with a calf injury. Bosh's injury doesn't look to be a major one and there's a chance (as this post is written) that he may play versus the Wizards. Of course, when you think about the Heat, you think about perennial all-star SG Dwayne Wade. Wade is having a good year, averaging over 21 points per game. If Bosh cannot go, anticipate the Birdman (PF Chris Anderson) to potentially make a start in his place. PF Udonis Haslem is another potential fill-in at the 4.

YOUR Washington Wizards are, simply put, on a roll. Their record is reflective of good defensive play, a favorable schedule, and the improvement of PG John Wall over last year's all-star year. Wall's defense has been laudable. He's also seeing the floor well and his teammates are converting passes into buckets for themselves and dimes for Wall. Wall currently leads the NBA in dimes, averaging 10.4 per game. The Wizards also lead the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage thanks to the dead-eye shooting of SG Bradley Beal, SF Paul Pierce and reserve SG/SF Rasual "Hi Toronto!" Butler. Wizards head coach Randy Wittman has seemingly settled on a bench mob rotation that includes PF Nene (battling foot issues), C Kevin Seraphin, PG Andre Miller, and SF Otto Porter.

Let's meet the starting lineups with the caveat that it's difficult to predict the Miami bigs based on their injury situation.

The starting bigs for Miami happen to be two of the most unpleasant looking men I've ever seen.

Certainly should be a an easier go of thing without Bosh then with him, that's for sure.

So is Paul playing or if he still resting the toe.

Will we have the big toe back ?

Wizards win head size face off.

I'll have to miss this one. Hope they avenge earlier loss and get to 19-6, matching franchise-best record through 25 games.

Woah this game is on Friday, was pretty sure it is today. No Bosh no chance for the Heat.

It doesn't matter if Miami plays with or without Bosh. Easy win :D

Yeap you probably right, last game Wade scored nearly half of their pts. Just 5 competitive teams in the East this year it's crazy.

Bosh usually kills us. Him being out should mean we're able to finally get a win in South Beach.

As long as Wade doesn't go god mode, we should win.

So, we're playing an over-the-hill Wade, an okay Deng, and a bunch of D League talents. Gosh, we better be up for this game.

I consider every team dangerous.

But I do trust this team more and more with every win.

They stay level headed and haven't seemed to panic so they seem to always be in it which allows them to close out games.

I feel certain that, unless their team scores more points than our team, we are certain to win this game (unless, of course, our team scores fewer points than their team).

Now, keep in mind that if our team and their team score the same number of points, it's very likely the game will go to overtime, in which case a lot will depend on who scores more points (or fewer, as the case may be).

I write in this vein in order to insure, w/o question, that I am right, because "I like to be right," as Hands once wrote.

Go Wizards!
Breaking News: In a shocking development, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis has sold the NBA franchise to a consortium of participants in a discussion board devoted to the team on realgm.com. Details to follow....

Wade looks better than he did last year. He could have another 40 point game if he gets 30 shots
