This year's Olympics have had some incredibly dominant performers, but maybe the best one is the US women's basketball team - probably the best women's basketball team ever assembled. I'm not one who cares to watch much female hoops, but this team is impossible to not appreciate their greatness - from top to bottom and everywhere around - skill-wise, athleticism-wise, and they know they're that damn good.

Through the first half of the gold medal game, Durant and Cousins are looking like the 2 best players in the world.

I haven't seen it in probably 20 years, but Young Frankenstein seemed like the funniest movie I ever saw. Gene Wilder was one of a kind.

No way that movie could be made today, in this political climate.

The scene where the old lady says "up yours, n***er" is classic.

Washington played their final preseason game last night, and the final cuts are looming. Now that the regular season is upon us, what are your thoughts? Did they make the right offseason moves? Did you see what you wanted to see in the preseason? How will the burgundy-and-gold fare this year?

Catch up on the discussion, and post your thoughts/predictions here: http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewforum.php?f=182

Oh...and...it's FINALLY football season! :D

Remember when Bryce Harper was exciting because of his long home runs? Now a great at bat is getting a walk. Wonder what happened to him?

Or, none of the above!

Nobody intentionally goes on a slump.

Physical, emotional, psychological, or spiritual issues on balance might be to blame.

Luck might not be with him. Facing hot pitchers can be causal. An injury is likely causal.

Also, dude might need a chiropractic adjust...

Baseball's so reliant on "mechanics" that one little thing that throws them off can make all the difference. Jake Arrieta goes from almost cut by the O's to Cy Young with the Cubs. Ubaldo Jiminez goes into half season slumps because he can't find the right release point - on his pitches that is. If Harper's got a tweak in his neck that could throw off his swing just a hair - and when he has to choose swinging at a 100 MPH rising fastball or a 75 MPH 12/6 curve, that little tweak can come into play.

really questioning my decision to switch to Direct TV. Their DVR isn't as functional as one might expect.
You have to upgrade 2 levels of service before you get ESPN. And they don't carry CSN+ meaning I'll miss
a handful of Wiz games. That said, once you're beyond your honeymoon period with Verizon, they suck too.
Speaking of which, I terminated my Verizon service, except for internet, in April. They still have not
figured it out yet, are billing me for services I haven't gotten in months and refered me to a collection
agency because I have not paid their erroneous bills.

BTW - seeing a .sig with something about Nate running marathons reminds me to say
even decrepit old men like me can still run marathons. I ran one earlier this month albeit poorly.

I was channel surfing the other day and found an hour long mock debate between Sanders and Trump on the fusion network. It was comedy gold.
