Smith is terrible, how poor does Brooks consider our $26 million alternative to be? Pretty crazy to spend $6+ million a year on a guy that collects DNP after DNP.

Nicholson doesn't play because morris locks him down in practice...smith plays because he keeps up with gortat in practice...

That's the type of coach brooks is...

Also they don't have much in the way of shot creation without Parker playing. Kawhi is a star but not a particularly good shot creator. He doesn't have a good first step and he couldn't get by Otto tonight, who is not some lock down defender. They are super reliant on their ball movement being perfect to create good looks. When it's not sharp, a crap team like ours ran up a double digit lead on them in the first quarter.

Cleveland and Golden State are a lot better than them. The Clippers are probably better too.

But if they had a PG like Wall, they would be awesome. As good as anyone really.

Leonard hit the game-winner over Porter. He's pretty f-ing good for somebody that can't create his own shot. I'd take him in a heartbeat. Oh that's right, we could have drafted him.

I would too. But I think it's true that he's not the shot creator that the star players that lead the other top teams are. I think that's a team weakness for them. They're going to have to play perfect to beat LA, GS, or Cleveland in a playoff series.

Or it's because whenever he's played, Nicholson has been a train wreck on both sides of the ball. And Nicholson is incapable of defending the C position while Smith is.

It's not an enviable position to be in, like when you've got a gun to your head and you've got to choose b/w eating poop or throw up.

Nicholson can't be worse than Smith has been. No one could.

On defense yes, especially if he's playing out of position at C. Offensively he's been terrible too because he can't seem to throw the ball in the ocean.

Dat, Nicholson can score in the post like a beast. He also has three-point range. On top of that he's from Canada and he's got some sort of engineering degree

Marcus Thornton is the modern day Eric Maynor

heavy minutes, horrific shooting percentage, no business being out there

McClellan should be out there every night instead

The fan base is trapped in a vortex of bitterness and negativity. Those who are still interested enough to watch the game and participate in the threads are like battered spouses.

We also have a pattern in these losses:

1. Starters good enough to beat good teams, but we don't have anybody who can be the go-to scorer or close at the end of games.

2. The $60 million bench (not to be confused with the Million Dollar Quartet, but more like the Million Dollar Bus Stop), will fail, even though they will have occasional quarters when they don't totally suck.

3. Jobbed by the refs.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think this is going to happen again and again, until one or more of Beal, Wall, or Porter go down from having to play too many minutes. This is disheartening.

In the Arenas era, you knew the Wizards weren't as good as the top teams, but they always had a puncher's chance in these sorts of games.

So these game threads are going to keep getting more and more negative.

I look at the BulletsForever game threads, which are pretty negative, but I think they have some younger people who haven't been beaten down as much as most of us have.

Thorton's TS is a dismal 46.5% and he takes a lot of shots. It isn't like he is earning his minutes. I don't see any reason not to give his minutes to McClellan for awhile and see what happens.

I think starting McClellan might have been too much too soon for him but i would much rather see him than Thornton off the bench.

Agree, same-ole Wizards, either play the rookies or send them to the D-League.

Return to Washington Wizards
