Now we know Kispert can score in more ways than just the three-ball. Bigger question is whether he can be the starting 3 next season assuming they don't re-sign Kuzma. Defense is still an issue and will always be with this team. But I think he can develop into a serviceable defender. It's good to see that Tommy may have finally hit one with the 15th pick.

I personally think he would be better off as a SG. I think he can defend and rebound that position. But, at this point, he is neither a starting SG or starting SF - IMO.

FTR, I will be absolutely ecstatic if he makes my many negative takes on him absolute nonsense trash. Please, please, please keep making me look stupid, for a decade, Kispert. Baby steps I know, but nice ones.

Kispert is only Timmy pick that's working right now. Deni flashes but it's always fools gold it seems

Corey Kispert's exit interview gives me extraordinary confidence in his future:

Breaking News: In a shocking development, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis has sold the NBA franchise to a consortium of participants in a discussion board devoted to the team on realgm.com. Details to follow....

Between Kispert and Dawkins, we might not look good on the court, but we will be a top post-game interviewing team. Can't believe he gave that interview at 24 years old :o

I can't help but think that Kispert will end up being traded. Hopefully he can have a breakout year and really improve his draft stock.

Maybe if Kispert is playing with BIlal, they can adjust matchups strategically between them.

Yep, true. Let Kispert start at 2 and Bilal at 3. Might work.

He is a great guy to have during a rebuild. Young enough that his best days are ahead of him, but mature beyond his years such that he is essentially a veteran mentor.

Yeah, we want to have spacing for Bilal and potentially Deni on the floor. With KP no longer here, having another shooter with Poole is essential to run a functional offense to allow the young guys to grow.

Any chance Kispert’s upside is higher than expected? Does he have enough tricks in the bag to get his usage to a point to where he’s more than just an efficiency guy but instead a guy opposing teams have to game plan for?

That's what we saw over the last 10-15 games of the season. But then again, the last 10-15 games of the regular season is when tanking teams tank and winning teams rest their stars, so I'm not sure yet if it's real.

Pretty decent sample though. Last 20 games he played 642 minutes and averaged 18 points on 69% TS.

Kispert is entering his 3rd year, and traditionally, this is when we expect a young player to take a "leap", if he is going to amount to something. We already saw some nice stats for him in the last 15 games of the season. If he is able to keep that going, there is no reason why he cant be starter quality in the league. We havent really been hearing about him in the off season. What is he doing to improve his game? Very little talk about him (excluding the trade thread), so he really is going under the radar. Could be a surprise for us in store! Maybe he comes in much improved. He is averaging almost 30 mins a game. He has played in 74+ games in each of the past 2 seasons, so he is durable.

2022-3 last 15 games:
FG average: 6.3/12.3 = 52%
3PT average: 3.3/7.8 = 40%
Pts average: 17.4/game
Mins average: 32.3 mins

2022-3 last 9 games:
FG average: 6.9/13.5 = 52%
3PT average: 4.1/8.8 = 44%
Pts average: 19.7/game
Mins average: 35.2 mins

Of course, there is more to the game than just scoring. His defense has not been good. So if he were to improve on defense, and become a net 0, he will become a much improved player. If he were to improve his defense to become slightly positive, then this will be even better. Factor in a 7.5% improvement over his stats for the last 9 games, as the "leap" we expect him to take, and our 2023-4 wishful thinking stats could have him at 21.2 pts/game, and at least a net 0 on defense, if not better.

I, for one, am looking forward to watching Kispert this year, and hoping to see that leap.
