So Morey accepted the deal that was on the table 2 months ago. He's lost his fastball.

His problem was acquiring Harden in the first place. That guy is the worst team killer of all time. Nobody in history has sabotaged 3 teams in a row like that. A true disgrace to professional sports.

Yup, Harden frankly should never have been on the top 75. Jokic has already surpassed him. Imagine if Jordan didn't coast on defense like Harden did. Instead, MJ treated defense just as importantly as offense. He refused to lose. Look at the crappy postseason performances of Harden in comparison.

Got an extra first and 2 extra 2nd round picks.

Man, Charlotte is so bad at drafting. They're basically the only team the Wizards can look down upon.

In the Harden deal, Philly picked up one of the best 22-year old players in the league: Kenyon Martin, Jr.

If they'd trade him for any combination of a veteran & a future R2 pick, I'd jump on it. But, I'm guessing they're too smart to go for anything of that kind.

OTOH, I wonder whether the Clippers would be willing to part with Filip Petrusev, who comes to them in this same deal....

I think Kupchak is a good talent evaluator. Mark Williams was a good pick. Obviously Alonzo was a good pick. Ditto PJ. Despite being a turd, Bridges is a talent. Everyone has misses. Kupchak is way above EG in comparison.

Mark Williams was a good pick.

Lamelo Ball was a no-brainer. Everyone knew that Ball, Wiseman and Edwards were going top 3. Charlotte picked 3rd and draft the guy who was still left on the board. I'm not giving Kupchak credit for that.

The PJ pick was okay I guess. It wasn't a home run or anything, but not a bad acquisition at #12 in a pretty lousy draft. Herro was still on the board and went #13, but at least he avoided Doumbouya and Langford who went 14th and 15th.

The Bridges pick seems good at first, until you realize he was acquired on a draft day trade with Charlotte sending out SGA as the outgoing centerpiece.

They're terrible -- but I'm not so sure we can look down on them to tell the truth.

Since 2018:

The Bad:
2018 they took SG-A & traded him for Miles Bridges & 2 R2 picks. :(
2019 they took PJ Washington at 12; he has not been at all good.
2021 -- Bouknight...

The Good:
2019 Cody Martin at #36 -- that was a very high-value pick.
2020 Lamelo at #3 (a no-brainer but still very high value given how meh the next 9 picks have turned out to be)
2022 traded 13 (Duren) -- questionable in principle, but they did get a boatload.
2022 Mark Williams at #15. Looks like he may be a very good NBA player.

Overall that's Miles Bridges, Cody Martin, Lamelo & Mark Williams. Plus a bunch of picks in the trades mentioned above.

As for us:
2018: Troy Brown Jr. -- traded for Gaff
2019: Rui -- turned into 2 future R2 picks
2020: Deni -- then wasted a R2 pick
2021: Corey -- then wasted a R2 pick
2022: Johnny -- then wasted a R2 pick

Overall that's Gafford, Avdija, Kispert & Johnny Davis. Plus a couple of picks.

Neither team has been any good, but through '22 at least, the Hornets were better than the Wiz if anything....

Without a doubt this one is the lead weight. But at least Bridges was a good player (if not a good person....)

Morey's problem is that he always has to poison the well to try to make himself look better. Going for Harden wouldn't have come with this kind of drama if he had just been willing to pay the going rate. Instead he decided to nickel and dime things so he could appear like he was building a great supporting cast with PJ Tucker's skeleton and Paul Reed. Letting a single one of those guys go and he has money for Harden and he doesn't have a problem, and if he wants out of Harden he can quietly look for trades behind the scenes without leaking stuff all the time, which he can't help himself from doing.

It's like they're trying to torture Tyrone Lue. What did that poor man do to deserve this treatment?

It was just to rehab his ankle. He's been injured.

If that's true...yikes! :o Whiffing on him puts the Portland rebuild in a hole before it starts.
