Wonderful news! Butler has been a bright spot in a bad year. Love his natural PG skills, especially his poise and leadership on the floor.

Great news. Butler has clearly replaced Davis as the young guard we are developing/investing in. Hard to even believe this one, was my favorite player in his draft year, thought he was a legit top 10 pick, now we have him locked up on a multi year deal.

I'm assuming he is signed to a vet-minimum or slightly more. These are the types of contracts that make a ton of sense. You pay reliable starters who can stay on the floor in a playoff game (Deni, Kuzma) but bench depth should be cheap. It's way better to have Jared Butler at $2M a year than Tyus Jones at $15M a year, even if Tyus is a slightly better player.

I'm assuming the odds that we resign Tyus just plummeted.

One of the best things to happen this season. Well deserved.

I like how our roster is starting to fill out. Obviously, we still lack a lot of high end talent, but we've got a couple of nice young long term pieces to round out a rotation:

PG ???/Butler
SG ???/Kispert
SF Bilal/???
PF Avdija/???
C ???/Vukcevic

Maybe Poole or Bagley fit in there somehow too.

I would add Keefe in there too. He has these guys looking like a team when they easily could have quit on the season.

Love this move. Surprising, given how well Dunn played last season with the GoGo and never got a chance. Nice to see them actually go this route. Loved Butler in college & wanted us to draft him. This move is essentially giving us a mulligan on the Johnny Davis pick.

Damn good call on this one.

This is one of those moves Wiz fans clamor for nearly every season just to be disappointed by the previous FO. Glad to see the team sees what we all do in Butler. Very excited to see how he finishes out the season. He'll be a guy to watch in Summer League to check in on his progress.

Nice. I was hoping that we would have inked a similar deal with Tristan, it will be interesting to see what kind of deal this give him

Prior to this MGT team taking over I can't remember any contract with a team option. Finally a MGT team with some balls.
