Fascinating ESPN article going inside the Wizards rebuild

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/39918616/washington-wizards-rebuild-nba

Really interesting article including some interesting nuggets from the new FO:

Here is an example...

"There is nothing spectacular happening in Washington. No gaudy streak, no shattering disappointment. The Wizards are a few years behind Detroit, according to Wizards general manager, Will Dawkins. They are young and currently without All-Star-caliber talent"

Spent way too much time reading this...
Seems like a reporter on the lookout for juicy stories and minimal basketball knowledge..
Well.. guess thats the Job.

Can't say I learned anything intersting other than the players solving film quizes..

can we move to a different forum. The pop up ads and the ads in general are making this board unusable

Get an adblocker. I haven't seen an ad online in probably 10 years. Unless you're on mobile, then yes this board is unusable on an iphone.

Detroit just set the franchise record for most losses in a season I think, and this is like their 4th or 5th year into the rebuild. If we're behind that, and we already have the 2nd worse record in the league...jeez

I think we may have one advantage on Detroit. They've committed to Cade Cunningham as their star of the future and I just am not seeing it. He looked better this year but he's still more Kyle Kuzma than a real star. The Wiz are still waiting to draft that player. Get the right star(s), you will be good for a long time. Build around the wrong guys and you are going to be bad to mediocre. I don't think Detroit is building around the right guy though from their perspective, they don't really have that much of a choice.

one of the other forums I post on migrated to a discord and it's much better (easier to check on the phone, more real-time discussions, easier to share gifs, tweets, etc.) - would people here be willing to do that?

I am also getting pop-ups, new windows opening when clicking to play a YouTube link or comment, even after checking my Safari settings, had to use a different browser.

Return to Washington Wizards
