Harrison Twins, Father At Odds Over Choice, According To Report

Andrew and Aaron Harrison have a different opinion than their father on where they should go to college, a Division 1 source close to the recruitment told SNY.tv.

"The boys want to go to Kentucky, the dad wants them to go to Maryland," the source said. "The dad's from there. He and [Maryland coach] Mark Turgeon have known each other a long time since Mark's days at Texas A&M. But the boys want to go to Kentucky
."

If they are like my oldest son I know what this means. They'll go to UK. They should follow their heart, but their dad is going to eventually be the one to say live with your decisions, for better or worse.

But if they do, hello Roddy Peters.

Their father completely denied the rumor. The person that came up w/ the rumor (Adam Zagoria) has been historically wrong on many occasions.

The elder Harrison said the twins, who are ranked No. 2 and 3 in the country by Scout.com, seem to have already made a decision, but he doesn't know what it is.

"I guess they have (decided)," he said. "We have an agreement, basically, that they will just say it on TV and everyone will be surprised and I'll leave it alone."

Maryland Coach Mark Turgeon will make one last trip to Houston on Wednesday in an attempt to either reinforce or reverse the Harrisons' decision. It'll be Turgeon's third visit to see the twins since the contact period began last month.

John Calipari, who visited the twins on the first day of the contact period, has been to Houston twice in the past few weeks. Their father declined to name the date of the UK coach's second (and previously unknown) visit.

"He asked me not to disclose that, but he has been here (twice)," he said.

And then there's SMU. The elder Harrison said the Mustangs are a legitimate option for his sons. And there's one reason for that interest.

"They have Larry Brown at their school," he said. "You guys don't know my kids like I know them. Andrew could tell you everything there is to know about Larry Brown. ... He definitely was a fan of Allen Iverson. Andrew's a basketball buff kind of guy. He watches the classic NBA channel 24/7."

Turgeon visits Wednesday, but I'm thinking it's an 11th hour thing. He wouldn't go if they were coming. :(

I actually have the opposite feeling. He just went there two weeks ago. Do you really think he'd waste his time going there again if he knew it was a done deal to UK?

I feeling quite optimistic. My gut says MD, but we just gotta wait until Thursday! No one outside of their family knows who they're leaning towards.

You can't tell me thats not a national title contender.

Potential 2013-2014 lineup:

PG: Aaaron Harrison
SG: Andrew Harrison
SF: Nick Faust
PF: Evan Smotrycz
C: Alex Lex

Bench:
PG: Pe Shon Howard, Seth Allen
SG: Dez Wells
SF: Jake Layman
PF: Charles Mitchell, Damonte Dodd
C: Shaquille Cleare

Potentially adding Roddy Peters to this group.

Apparently they're declaring tomorrow instead of the 29th. Buckle your seatbelts.

Yeah, that bench would be better than most ACC teams' starters - and not by a small amount.

I gotta laugh - when I clicked on to RealGM, a flashing banner came up saying to click here to buy Maryland season tickets - along with a picture of Turgeon. Talk about taking advantage of the moment. It's subliminabable.

Just over 4 hours to go before decision time.... tick... tick...

So, if we get the Harrison twins, will the NCAA just go ahead and declare us 2013-14 National Champs?

Conversely, if they choose Kentucky, will the NCAA just go ahead and vacate the 'Cats results from 2013-14?

All of the Kentucky insiders are saying they got the twins.

We shall see......

No one outside the Twins family knows anything. Just take all these rumors from insiders and "sources" with a grain of salt. This kind of stuff happens all the time when top recruits are about to announce.

I'm just curious, if the Terps did get the Twins, would you be surprised if the program is under probation in 2-3 years?

Yeah, I'd be very surprised.

I trust that Turgeon and Mr. Plank know what they're doing.

It's Kentucky. Oh well. Maryland will be more than fine without the 1 and done twins..

I expect the elder Harrison will have a new job on a coaching staff, or some other perk will turn up. No way somebody didn't take care of him.

I hope Maryland beats Kentucky in the season opener and that they own them next season, when those two brothers are there.
Bye bye Beal.
