WizBoard 08-09 Season Predictions Thread

Post#1 » by Dat2U » Thu Oct 16, 2008 1:07 am

It's about that time right? Make your predictions for the Wizards 08-09 season.

I predict 82-0. And a Eastern Conference Finals appearance where they'll lose the LeBron & the Cavs. Gil gets healthy. Nick Young avgs. 33 ppg. Etan is the comeback player of the year and gives us a double/double while playing 81 games. He's suspended one game for bitch slapping Brendan on the bench. EG trades D-Song & J-Dix for Jared Jeffries who becomes a 6th man of the year while giving us 12 & 12 every night.

Only downside is that an intoxicated Andray Blatche gets arrested over for sollicting a male police officer in drag and asking for a "Monroe Transfer". He gets a weekend in jail and is the butt of jokes on local and national TV.

Abe Pollin in better health announces that EJ has a "lifetime contract" as coach with the Wizards. Who's lifetime that is, isn't quite clear.

I like what CJC, Ji, and MJG said. I'll take all of them. In all seriousness though, this team will still find a way to scrape into the playoffs....despite eddie Mutha Fuggin jordan. I think 42 wins gets us the 8th spot. I got dibs on the the first gamethread. We can't afford to start the season with millertime mediocrity.

We don't have the depth, add to that our non-draft of 2008 and we are a 9th seed.
32-50 and lottery bound.

I also think if Gil comes back this year, he'll struggle all year and have to shut it down.

39-43

We'll start the season off slow but for once we'll be hitting our stride at the All Star break rather than slowing down like we usually do. We've got our share of injuries but who's to say that other teams don't suffer some costly injuries? As long as Caron and Jamison stay healthy I think the Wiz will hit their stride in Feb., once Gil gets a month to get adjusted.

I think this year's team is more fragile than before. They have the pressure of new contracts and the fact that they haven't lived up to expectatons over the last few years. Even people who buy the injury excuse see this as a make-or-break year. Then you have to consider that there won't be any "gimme" games in the division this year (or in the East for that matter).

Add all that up and I think you have a team that's primed for a really slow start. Add in a frustrated Arenas when he returns but isn't the "Assassin" he recalls himself being and I think you'll have a recipe for this team to really hit a wall mid-season and maybe even break.

33-49... Haywood's absence is going to mean flipping a bunch of close wins for close losses.

41-41, I just have a feeling they're going to do just enough to make the playoffs.

I'll go 43-39, ofr no reason other than they always finish around that mark and hoping that a healthy Gil can find a way to lift this team if they can hover around .500 for 2 months. I don't think you can judge some of the rotten results in preseason because the vets don't care and while Haywood is a big loss, having Butler and Jamison on the court will be enough to make this a .500 squad. If they can find some way to diminish Wood's loss at center with Blatch, McGee and Thomas (even Pech over DSong), they'll be better than most people think-assuming of course we have no more serious injuries. If we lose Butler or Jaimson for an extend period of time before Gil returns, we are going to win 30 or less games.

42-40

Another mediocre season marred by poor coaching decisions and untimely injuries. And of course, another 1st round exit -- probably to the Sixers or Celtics this year instead of the annual drubbing from the Cavs....

43-39

Blatche will be starting by the time Arenas gets back ala Butler vs Jarvis a couple years back. We will look good when healthy and give some hope to this board but Nick Young will show he's not yet ready for prime time, AD will show his age a bit, Gil will not be back to form until the playoffs and the usual 1-2 week injuries will take their toll as we finish around .500 for the Xth straight year.

38-44, 9th in the East. AJ and CB will get us close, but not quite there.

I thinks its going to be a long season. In some respects missing Haywood hurts more than Gil. Can you say small ball. You know that's what EJ is going to do.

I predict we will win about 35 games and miss the playoffs.

34-48.

Washington will dig a hole early they won't be able to climb out of. Missing their best interior defender a mediocre to bad unit will play worse than we ever thought possible.

It's going to be very ugly, another season wasted.
