Thanks to bulletproof 32 for the rundown on the meeting. I missed the posts from daSwami and others the past few days. This is an interesting discussion.

I might make some jokes about tanking, but I really don't think they're doing that, and am glad that they aren't. To me, the Wizards are trying to win each individual game, but are just this bad.

I am optimistic about next year and beyond.

I'm in a group that has 4 x 20 game plans, Section 109. This is our 3rd season. I don't think two of the group are going to join again, so my brother in law and I will be figuring out what we want to do. It may depend on what kind of a deal the team gives us. We may cut to 2 plans or 10 game plans. If we could significantly improve our location at a discount, we might spring for 4 again.

I heard a rumor that the ticket prices will drop next year. to those who are looking for a good deal on lower level tix, rumor is that LL tix behind the basket (sections 104,105, 106, 107) will be offered to existing planholders for just $31/seat per game. This should give you some leverage next year when folks are trying to unload them on craigs for "face value." (I believe face value for those sections is currently $90+)

also thanks to 'proof for the 'shareholders' meeting report

I forgot it was last night or I might have tried harder to get down on time.

I'm currently in 107 and am actually more inclined now to improve our
seats than to drop. But one thing I will be looking at this year is a more
specific and detailed layout of available seats/packages and the price for each.

Finally, there is a gentleman who has been sitting a couple seats down from us
this season. Nice guy, pretty reserved most of the time. At the SAN game he
opened up to me a little more than before and told me he actually PLAYED for
the Bullets back in the 60s, but it was before I was even watching them...I started
right around Earl's rookie year or the year after when Wes was a rookie. Speaking of
which, I went to the bb reference page (but I had forgetten his name) but stumbled
across Wes' career stats. Pretty impressive for his first 4-5 years wrt rebounding.

Good looking out, Swami. I just called my rep and LL seats are in fact going to be $31/ game for current planholders in the sections you mentioned. My ticket rep also said invoices were shipped today detailing the various prices/ packages.

I know I said a few pages back that I wasn't renewing my tix next year but I don't know if I can pass this up. I had my rep hold two aisle seats for me in Sec 107 and will more than likely purchase them.

What row?

I'm in 107 row P right now

I'd really like to move towards the corner and away from behind the basket

or actually I would appreciate being a few rows closer in.

Aren't you on the aisle of row P?

The two seats he reserved for me are row Q on the aisle.

I'm going to take a look to see what other deals they have but I'll probably end up taking the full season Sec 107 seats.

we're not on the aisle

we're 11-12 or 12-13 about 4-5 seats in.

I'm sorta torn as to whether or not to renew for next year. I really enjoy the games and genuinely like the team (even if they suck, they're any easy bunch to root for). I really don't want to be a "fair-weather" fan, I don't want to be the guy who bails on the team when the going gets tough. For me, these days, it's a financial decision. I just lost my job in December (I really need to start a "Swami need a job" thread - apologies to Scabs) and I'm not sure I want to fork over that much cash for what this year has, imho, been a sub-standard product.

Just got my renewal notice yesterday for 4x20 game plans in Section 109. The Wizards are offering a 28% discount if we renew by April 1, dropping the price per plan from $1,960 to $1,420.

I'll renew if the rest of my group wants to. If not, I'll buy some individual games in advance with people who want to go, and get single seats at game time when I feel like it.

mulling over my options as well

I emailed my rep yesterday and am planning to have an in person meeting
with him so I can be advised as to specific seats available at that time.

The $31 seats is only for the full season but that would be barely more than
I paid for 13 games this year.

Another option is to move around the corner a little and the seats would
be better and still less than I paid this year.

If any other plan holders want to buy into a shared deal, that would be worth
some talk.

A little OT - but those of you in here who are college students (or still look like college students), bring your college ID's to the game against the Hornets on Wednesday and get $10 lower bowl seats.

I was seven rows from the court for 10 bucks the last time we played the Raptors.

Interesting, I just received my renewal notice today and there was no discount offered to me if renewed by April 1. Just an offer of an autographed basketball and an "exclusive dinner and casino night with the Wizards players at the Park at Fourteenth." I have a full season and my seats are located center court, lower section. Apparently, the Wizards think that people sitting in these high-priced seats would rather have an autographed basketball and dinner than a discount in price. Well, I don't.

I'm torn about next year. I've been die hard Bullets/Wizards fan for over 30 years and a season ticket holder for the last 13 years. I'm fortunate to be able to afford my nice seats, but I'm even starting to think I'm crazy for spending as much as I do on these tickets. The only thing that really keeps me going is the hope that someday the Zards will be contenders and my son (who is 2 years old now) and I will be able to enjoy that experience together in the great seats I have now.

As for this year, although I'm disappointed in the season, I'm not mad or all that surprised. It was clear early on we just didn't have the experience or horses to be that good this year. Although I didn't expect us to be this bad, I knew we wouldn't make the playoffs.

As a season ticket holder, I was initially ticked off on the coaching staff not playing the younger guys more, but that doesn't even bother me anymore. They are still getting tons more experience than they would have received if Gil and Haywood were playing. I also would not be upset if Gilbert and Haywood don't come back this year. I guess I look at it as I'm not getting my money back either way. This is a lost season...I've come to accept it. I just want the Wizards to come back completely healthy next year, with a few new players (whether it is by draft or by trade).

Hey Jim, BTW, I think I saw you and your daughter at the Bulls game last Friday. Were you wearing the blue and brown Wizards wig and does your daughter have long brown hair? I think I saw you in the concourse after the game while I was waiting for my wife to get out of the restroom, but it dawned on me it could be you after you went around a corner. I just remembered that you told me you wore that wig sometimes and your daughter was around 13. If I'm right, I'll know how to spot you next time and say hello.

That was almost certainly me and my older girl.

I find it a bit strange they aren't offering you high priced folks more
than they are.

I got my renewal package as well. Very large discount (>$800) on the
same seats. I am planning on renewing.

What I didn't like was that the package I got in the mail seemed to
presume that my only options were to renew with the same seats or
not renew at all. I had already contacted my rep though and am
planning a face to face where I can see exactly what all my options
are. Then I can make an informed decision.

I kinda feel like a renewal should expect slightly better seats almost
every year due to less than 100% renewal by others. I was informed by
in the email with my rep that in addition to the rebate/discount, I
could upgrade my seats more into the curve (108) and pay less for
those next year than I did this year. I'll also consider the full 41 game
package although that's a risk since I know I want be able to attend
every game and I might not even want to. There is a dilemma there in that
it will obviously be easier to unload tix to the big time games BOS/LA/CLE
than to a run of the mill game. But the price ($31/seat/gm) is really
attractive. I'll want them to be in a better location within the section
though. I wonder if I could almost break even selling some of the high
profile games and going to most of the rest.

My girls are just about old enough where instead of going home to Reston,
then back into town, I could meet them at the game with them using metro
then drive home together.

Currently, with the 20 game plan where we are, we have no discount relative to the gate price. We got the autographed basketball offer, but not the private party, which actually sounds pretty cool.

It's interesting what they think will motivate people. The price break might be decisive for us, since if we only lose one of our group, the rest of us could decide to renew and take more tickets per person. I have one drop out and am waiting to hear from the other two in our group.

I haven't received my renewal package yet, but I ended up re-upping via phone/ fax anyway so it's a moot point.

I took the $31/game full season tix in Sec 107 as there didn't seem to be a more attractive upgrade option. To me that's just too good of a deal to pass up. I'm curious though, how much the seats will go up next season if the Wiz have a decent year -- hopefully they remain constant or only slightly increase. Otherwise, I'm heading back up to the nosebleeds (or explore the 10/20 game package deals).

For the games I can't attend, I figure I'll be able to sell the tix (for more than I paid but significantly less that face) rather than give them away as I've had to do with the upper level seats I've had for the last 5 years. Ideally, I'm hoping I can recoup a substantial part of my investment by selling off 12 or so games.

'proof

welcome to our section

curious what seats you got and who is your acct Rep

ours is Joe S.

I'm still pondering what to do for next year. I just shot off an email
to Joe re the renewal package thanking them for the discounts/rebates
but chastising them (gently) for the lack of more information on other
options beside renewing the exact same seats.

I don't think they'll tell you that directly in writing. But in this climate I would think that anyone willing to put down cash money will have some leverage. I think anyone willing to renew "up" to more or higher priced seats should be able to get the renewal incentives for their new packages. Renewing within the same price level, as we are, you might get a better location. I'm going to try to move up 5-6 rows. Just figure out what you want, broach it with your rep, and see what happens.

I have a meeting scheduled with my rep a week from today, before the ORL game.

I want him to show me what exact seats I could get if I re-upped at
that meeting. And obviously for how much.

My seats are the two aisle seats in row Q directly over the tunnel (closer to sec 108 than 106). I believe the actual seat numbers are 18 and 19.

My ticket rep is Chris L. He's only been my rep for about a month but I've had more conversations with him than any of the other previous reps I've had. He was really good about answering all my questions about the available packages and we both agreed that the $31/ game was the best option.
