To put the D of last night's game in historical perspective, the Wiz had a Drtg of 150 (that's 150 points allowed per 100 possessions). That is the second worse single game defensive performance since at least 2000.

The worst was -- you guessed it -- the Wiz against Utah last year with 151.

Just replayed the game, never realized the Knick fans chanting ole ole ole while the Wiz were on defense.

7 times David Lee matched up with a PG. 4 times with Mike James, 3 times with Critt...and two times with Young to add the cherry on top.

And that's just counting the times he got the ball while matched up with them.

Sometimes you can't even say anything. You just gotta shake your head. The facts just speak for themselves.

It's stuff like this that makes me scream for a change in "veteran leadership". It's just not about the coaches. There's obviously no accountability among the players either for what's been taking place on defense for years.

Yeah, that's what we're banking on. With the addition of a defensive-oriented coach and coaching staff, and maybe a roster change here and there, we can be a middle-of-the-pack defensive team (or hopefully better) next season.

isn't is sad that the wizards haven't striven for greatness on the defensive side of the basketball since eddie jordan's arrival? it's always been a goal of the FO and coaching staff to just get the team to be an average defensive team. that to me is just sad.

Very sad. You play man on the pick and roll and they THREE TIMES IN A ROW slipped the pass through for a dunk. So instead we switch, and end up with a PG guarding their PF.

Sad. Other teams can defend this play, why can't we?

our D on this play was unbelievably inept. Phil was right when he said
that we were switching too easy. I wonder if this didn't have more
than a little to do with AB not playing more than he did. Lee is
better than I thought but I'm not convinced he's nearly as good
as we made him look in this game.

And their 3pt shooters....I think you gotta stick to them and make them
drive. Force them to beat you some other way.

As bad as that is, I'm not sure the PGs were doing much worse on him
than our bigs were.
