Sacto-Wiz game thread. (via severn)

Post#1 » by doclinkin » Thu Jan 22, 2009 12:08 am

Game at 10 pm. (I thought it was at 8, so rushed to a last-second rescue. Nope! Oh well, sorry if I poached this from anyone).

Game analysis here:

Severn Hoos wrote:Big game tonight! It's a 2-game swing in the standings - either the Wiz get within 1 win of the Kings, or drop 3 games behind. And a 3-game lead is pretty big for a team that has won just 8 games in the first half of the season.

But it won't be an easy loss. Even though the Kings are at home, this is a back-to-back for them, having played in Denver last night. The Wiz should actually be the more rested team, since they had a day off and a short trip after Monday's matinee at Golden State.

C'mon Tap - we want lots of minutes for McGee, Blatche, and Young (interesting to see him matched up with a somewhat similar player in Martin - maybe a best-case finished product for Young?) And lots of rest for Jamison & Butler - gotta save them for the big TNT game Thursday at the Lakers!

Oh no - I can't handle the pressure! What if they win? What if I am the new reverse ji-jinx? What if this is the game that lands us ahead of the Kings in the final standings and we miss out on the Griffster? To say nothing of the pressure of having to do the next thread if they win or even - GASP - go on a winning streak! Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!

OK, back to reality.

Actually, I kind of expect the Wiz to win this one. As I said in the grafted thread starter above, the Kings are likely to be the tired team, and the Wiz have no incentive to rest anyone for tomorrow's game, since they have no chance of beating the Lakers anyway.

I guess I can reconcile myself to the 1-win-in-5 approach, this could be the one.

Because he doesn't like players with tons of raw talent who don't take advantage of it because of poor work habits and signs of laziness. I don't blame him.

On the other hand, McGee is really coming in and affecting shots. The easy layups stopped as soon as he came in.

But you have to be consistent. I have heard him call out Jamison or Butler.

Blatche was incorrect when he claimed they have to answer truthfully when you ask if they're a cop. Sacramento really is... troubled defensively, but when you're in a bad way you'll take a fifty point half however it comes to you.

Chat by the way, you'll enjoy it thoroughly.

Not that I doubt our aptitude when it comes to come-from-ahead losses, but it's hard to imagine us not pulling out a win against a team that is playing this badly on defense.

Sacramento sure didn't get better firing Theus. They really look badly coached.
Bye bye Beal.

Fear of falling under investigation for tanking if they didn't make at least a little bit of a run against our Songaila-at-center lineup?

Evil genius Tankscott could just pull this one out yet.

Brilliant... save Songalia for exclusive center minutes down the stretch... brilliant.

Wait, no! What's he doing? Putting an actual tall person in at the 5. He could blow everything.

I love it. Tankscott yelling at his team, faking like he cares. Brilliant.
