Bulls to White House, BAM to Phone Booth?

Post#1 » by fifthstop » Thu Feb 26, 2009 5:58 pm

The team is in DC to play the Washington Wizards tomorrow. The meeting with POTUS is not expected to include a game of pick-up – although no other events are listed on his schedule for the rest of the day…

Traditionally, don't teams have to win something to get invited to the White House? At least be over .500?

In fact, can anyone here think of a sorrier team that's been to the White House? Did the Redskins replacements maybe get to go the year the skins won the SB?

[edit to add: even if they did, at least they were over .500!]

I saw that Barrack may be at the phone booth Friday night.

That'll be good to see even if he is expected to root for the 'bad guys'.

I can't remember W coming to a game.
Or Slick either for that matter.

GWB was a BaseBall man, and yes he came to the NATS.

I am nearly 100% certain that Clinton went to one game at least.

If the Bulls get a White House invite now - where's the incentive to win a title someday?

Obama did ask to stand next to Gordon in the group picture since he's the shortest.

I saw Clinton (on TV) at Bullets game at US Air Arena. I forget which team or the outcome of the game, but I can't forget the image of Clinton at every break in play, stuffing food in his mouth. Maybe his handlers saw that too, because he didn't eat anything in the second half.

I recall hearing that he went to some other games, but I know he was at that one.

The game reports said that Clinton (last?) attended a game on Jan 19, 2000. He was a really big college basketball fan. Don't know if he was really a hard core NBA guy.

Barelyawake's grand plan gains another convert:

Tapscott sounded pleased to finally have a basketball enthusiast at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

It’s terrific for us that he’ll be the ‘First Fan’ of the NBA,” Tapscott said with a wide grin. “If I can get him to help us recruit free agents, that’d be terrific. I better check to see if there are any rules against that.”

Pretty cool that he sat courtside to mingle with the hoi polloi. I wouldn't have guessed the Secret Service would have let him. Bet they were crapping heavy bricks of depleted uranium. NIce that he got all the standing ovations, must have felt he was up in front of congress again.
