It's better than activating Sam I am and with an 88% career FT mark, you know who will take the techs if he's on the floor. Always like Earl and notice that in the last three years in the NBA (I know he was in Europe last season), he's averaged around 34 games per season, which fits in great with our durable guys.

Earl Boykins is 5'5" and 140 lbs, and 33 years old. I remember Boykins from way back when his Eastern Michigan team beat Carolina in the NCAAs. Someone mentioned earlier that he was Gil's teammate at GS when Arenas came into the league. Wizards are his 9th NBA team. Played last season in Italy.

I always got the impression that Boykins is a positive guy. If he can settle things down and provide scoring that would be a plus. I see no way in hell he can help defensively, but that's not the problem with this team.

Bye bye Beal.

for a short term move, how bad can it be.
For one thing, I'm betting he's not TO prone, that without
checking his career stats
Rather unfortunate choice of words when referring to Boykins
Actually, when Boykins isn't being abused by taller opponents, he is rather pesky and he torched us plenty when we faced him. Glad to have a legit PG (although he's a chucker)

That's the thing - the only thing that makes him "PG" is his size. He's definitely a scorer by trade. We do need some of that off the bench but he doesn't make the offense as a whole look any better. But as an emergency signing, we could probably do worse.

Now that we have Boyk, I am really hoping to see us play a bit more up-tempo when he's out there and that would call for reduced minutes for Flips pet Orberto With speedy Boyk out there, I could really see McGee and perhaps even Young flourishing out there with alley-oops etc.

Re: Wiz To Sign Boykins
When Boykins was in GS he was a deadly shooter from anywhere. If he could get open, it was in. I saw him a bit in his Bobcats stint in 07-08, and he had lost his shooting touch. If he can get it back then he can have some use. Otherwise, he won't have much else to give you.

I have always liked what Boykins brings to the table: he's so cute and tiny and his name sounds like the noise a basketball makes when you dribble it. Its fun to say his name really fast as he dribbles around the court.

I suspect that Gilbert will be able to learn a thing or two from Boyk, I am looking forward to seeing Boyk dart around the court.
...and please, for the love of God, please don't pair Boyk with Orberto.

Re: Wiz To Sign Boykins
I understand that Earl caught GMEG's eye during a scouting trip last year. Although we desperately needed a PG, EG could not sign him on the spot for fear that EJ would play him at the 5.
True story.
True story.

Boykins brings alot to the table, even though he needs to stand on a chair to reach the table.

I yelled myself hoarse cheering for Earl on Saturday, to no avail.

I saw a tweet that Mike James's cast is off and that he could be back sooner. Ernie won't keep Boyk a day longer than he needs to.

I don't know about that.
Boykins has been a shot in the arm for this team. He's a reliable guy that Flip can throw in there when Arenas gets rattled.
I wonder if Mike James will accept a buyout for any price less than his remaining salary? Probably not.
