How will lowering the age of entering the draft affect Team ignite?

I think that it would lessen the participants. But, not every Teenager is ready for the Full NBA. Ignite will still have its place.
Behind Team Ignite, is the "Overtime Elite". Which hosts 16-18 year olds.

Basketball is only going to get more popular. So, it's only a matter of time, before things get bigger and bigger.
Pro Tennis has 14yr olds. So why not start earlier in the U.S. for Pro Teams? Europe is doing it.

We need to see MORE marketing of the G-league. Commercials, special tournaments in bigger cities, merchandise, visibility etc.

Currently watching Ignire vs South Bay Lakers and they’re getting blown out by 30+. Pippen Jr is locking up their guards.

I’m not sure I love the Ignite program or project just yet. I think it needs to transform into something else that’s more appealing and more of a ‘brotherhood’ where players take pride in being part of the program. More incentives, more BIG games, more exposure.

NBA to shut down G League Ignite after this season
By Shams Charania | March 21, 2024

Since 2020, the Ignite has produced more than 10 draft selections, including four top-10 picks. G League president Shareef Abdur-Rahim oversaw the Ignite’s roster and coaching staff, hiring respected former NBA players and coaches in Brian Shaw and Jason Hart as the program’s head coaches over four years.

The Ignite has struggled this season with a 6-40 record, although prospects Matas Buzelis and Ron Holland are projected to be lottery picks in June’s draft. Ignite’s last game is scheduled for March 28.

“Four years ago, we started Ignite to fill a void in the basketball landscape, and I’m proud of the contributions we were able to make to that ecosystem,” Abdur-Rahim said in a statement. “With the changing environment across youth and collegiate basketball, now is the right time to take this step. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to general manager Anthony McClish, head coach Jason Hart and their staff and to each player who wore an Ignite jersey. As ever, the G League’s commitment to developing top NBA talent and helping players achieve their NBA dreams is unwavering.”

It's not a failed experiment to me. GLI was a solid effort to create different pathways for players to turn professional, get into the NBA or other leagues. They've had some success with draft picks and media attention, but overall the lack of structure from an incumbent NBA team operating above the GLI to develop players was missing. Curious to see what happens next and which GLI players make it to the NBA in this year's draft. like Buzelis

Buzelis is a prime example.
Hopefully they revamp the Ignite, and bring them back in some form.
