My Mock Draft (with trades)

Post#1 » by randomhero423 » Thu Jun 26, 2008 6:16 pm

Here is my first round mock. This mock is what I think the teams will do, not what they should do. I am factoring in trades but I can very well be wrong.

1. Chicago Bulls – PG Derrick Rose, Memphis

2. Seattle SuperSonics (from Miami Heat) – PF/SF Michael Beasley, Kansas State

3. Los Angeles Clippers (from Minnesota Timberwolves) – SG/PG O.J. Mayo, University of
Southern California

4. Miami Heat (from Seattle SuperSonics) – PG Jerryd Bayless, University of Arizona

5. Memphis Grizzles – SG Eric Gordon, Indiana University

6. New York Knicks –SF Danilo Gallinari, Italy

7. Minnesota Timberwolves (from Los Angeles Clippers) –PF Kevin Love, UCLA

8. Milwaukee Bucks – SF/PF Joe Alexander, West Virginia University

9. Charlotte Bobcats – PG/SG Russell Westbrook, UCLA

10. Portland Trailblazers (from New Jersey Nets) – PG D.J. Augustin, University of Texas

11. Indiana Pacers – C Brook Lopez, Stanford University

12. Sacramento Kings – PF Darrell Arthur, University of Kansas

13. New Jersey Nets (from Portland Trailblazers) – C Kosta Koufos, Ohio State University

14. Detroit Pistons (from Golden State Warriors – C DeAndre Jordan, Texas A & M University

15. Phoenix Suns – SG/SF Brandon Rush, University of Kansas

16. Philadelphia 76ers – PF Marrease Speights, University of Florida

17. Indiana Pacers (from Toronto Raptors) – PG Mario Chalmers, University of Kansas

18. Washington Wizards – C Roy Hibbert, Georgetown University

19. Cleveland Cavaliers – PF/C Robin Lopez, Stanford University

20. Charlotte Bobcats (from Denver Nuggets) – PF/SF Anthony Randolph, Louisiana State
University

21. Portland Trailblazers (from New Jersey Nets) – PF JJ Hickson, North Carolina State
University

22. Orlando Magic – SG Courtney Lee, Western Kentucky University

23. Utah Jazz – PF Alexis Ajinca, France.

24. Seattle SuperSonics – C JaVale McGee, University of Nevada

25. Houston Rockets – SF Donte Greene, Syracuse University

26. San Antonio Spurs – PF Ryan Anderson, University of California

27. Portland Trailblazers (from Memphis Grizzlies) – SG Nicolas Batum, France.

28. New York Knicks (from Memphis Grizzles) –SG/SF Chris-Douglas Roberts, University of Memphis

29. Golden State Warriors (from Detroit Pistons) – PF Jason Thompson, Rider University

30. Boston Celtics – SG/SF Bill Walker, Kansas State University

Trade Predictions:

No mock draft, in my opinion, is complete without trades. In this draft especially, trades will play a huge role. Here are some blockbusters I can see happening.

Miami Heat/Seattle SuperSonics

MIA trades: #2, Mark Blount

SEA trades: #4, Chris Wilcox, Johan Petro

Los Angeles Clippers/Minnesota Timberwolves

LAC trades: #6, Cuttino Mobley, Tim Thomas, future first protected (Top 5 protected 2009, Top 3 2010, Unprotected 2011)

MIN trades: #3, Marko Jaric, Antione Walker

Rasheed Wallace to Golden State Warriors

DET trades: #29, Rasheed Wallace

GSW trades: #14, Al Harrington, Kosta Perovic

New Jersey/Portland

NJ trades: #10, #21, Marcus Williams, Trenton Hassell

POR trades: #13, Martell Webster, Channing Frye, Jarret Jack (obtained by trade exception), rights to Joel Freeland

Richard Jefferson to Los Angeles Lakers

NJ trades: Richard Jefferson, Trenton Hassell

LAL trades: Lamar Odom, Trevor Ariza

Michael Redd to Cleveland Cavaliers

MIL trades: Michael Redd

CLE trades: Wally Szcerbiak, Anderson Varejao

New York Knicks/Memphis Grizzles

MEM: #28

NYK: Cash considerations

Should be an interesting draft/will tivo it (Less than Jake @ Roseland. I’m not missing that)!

Portland certainly does add in a lot of assets, but I don't know if they would do that for DJ and I don't know if New Jersey would do that trade with Lopez still on the board.

Detroit would rather roll with Sheed/Thompson than Harrington/Perovic/Jordan.

It's a nice mock overall though and some good thought put into it. Nice job.
