Re: LloydFree's Big Board
What do you see his role on offense being, though? A guy who just spreads the floor with his jumper and gets some points off of putbacks? His footwork is awful and I don't know if his post game transfers to the NBA well. So what is he then? He doesn't have the faceup game of Bosh, so is he Jordan Hill+ ? What do you see his upside as?

I see Vonleh as a Derrick Favors with range out to 20 feet, or David West. 12-15 years of David West is valuable. I think his floor is higher than Jabari Parkers, actually.

I can see the West comparison pretty easily. Favors not as much...I think you're starting to warm me up on him

Do you like Smart's fit with MCW? I imagine if the Sixers move up to 7 or 8, he might not be the target due to his lack of shooting. However, he is such a value that Id gamble on him and MCW developing their shots.

Neither player can shoot, but Rightly or wrongly, I always assume players will improve their shooting once they become pros. That is, as long as they don't have broken form. If one of them learns to shoot, they could play together.
Personally I like multiple players in a lineup who can create offense, as long as there is only one ball dominant player on the floor. Marcus Smart really isn't a PG, and definitely is not "ball dominant". He plays off the ball.
I would love for the 76ers to get a player like Smart, especially if they get a passive type, like Wiggins at #3. Wiggins needs to play with some teammates that know how to compete, and Smart plays knows how to compete.

I think Wiggins and Parker have franchise player talent just as much as Embiid.

I'm pretty happy with how the draft turned out for the 76ers

I wasn't high on him like the rest of the 76ers' board. I thought he was a 2nd round pick. Due to his size, inconsistant shot and mediocre ball handling, he really has no position. His upside is as a defensive specialist/energy guy off the bench on a good team. But he is on the perfect team to maximize his opportunity.

I like KJ a lot. His deficiencies you listed all can be worked on, and improved upon. He reminds me of Iguodala (sp?) right now. I think he will become a average to above average offensive player if he puts the work in. He is a damn good athlete, and he should build upon that with an offensive game to match it. Strong ass draft by the Sixers.

He's a better shooter than I gave him credit for being. I can understand some of the Iguodala comps being given to him. He has better 3pt shooting potential than Iguodala, but he is nowhere near the ball handler. I'm of the mind that ball handling is not as simple to fix as shooting so I think he is limited in upside.
I can envision an upside of young Richard Jefferson, but he will really have to improve his handle to get there.

A young Richard Jefferson would be nice. Do you see him being a SF or do you think he plays SG for the Sixers? The difference isn't vast by any means, I just wonder how a defense would look with he and MCW on the perimeter. He would be ideally sized for the 2 spot, and would be able to match any 2 guard athletically.
As far as ball handling goes, the Heat spent an offseason (I think it was Beasley's 2nd year) really drilling our guys on the fundamentals of the game, and lot of that work included ball handling drills. I remember watching those videos of guys putting in the work, and it really seemed to translate into the season.
