Mock Draft Competition Results

Post#1 » by Ruzious » Fri Jun 26, 2015 1:28 pm

Unless someone has time to count up the scores for everyone, I think the best way to do this is for everyone to compute their scores and report it the following way - copying their post from the competition thread and follow each pick with where that player was picked and the difference between that number and where you had him going. This is mine (and Christian Wood not getting picked hurts).

1. Min - Karl Townes, 1, 0
2. LAL - Jahlil Okafor, 3, 1
3. Phi - D'Angelo Russell, 2, 1
4. NY - Emmanuel Mudiay, 7, 3
5. Orl - Mario Herzonja, 5, 0
6. Sac - Kristaps Porzingis, 4, 2
7. Den - Willie Cauley-Stein, 6, 1
8. Det - Justice Winslow, 10, 2
9. Cha - Myles Turner, 11, 2
10. Mia - Stanley Johnson, 8, 2
11. Ind - Frank Kaminsky, 9, 2
12. Uta - Kelly Oubre, 15, 3
13. Pho - Cameron Payne, 14, 1
14. OKC - Sam Dekker, 18, 4
15. Atl - Devin Booker, 13, 2
16. Bos - Justin Anderson, 21, 5
17. Mil - Tyrus Jones, 24, 7
18. Htn - Trey Lyles, 12, 6
19. Was - Bobby Portis, 22, 3
20. Tor - Kevon Looney, 30, 10
21. Dal - Jerian Grant, 19, 2
22. Chi - Delon Wright, 20, 2
23. Por - Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, 23, 0
24. Cle - R.J. Hunter, 28, 4
25. Mem - Jarell Martin, 25, 0
26. SA - Christian Wood, 61, 35
27. LAL - Montrezl Harrell, 32, 5
28. Bos - Richaun Holmes, 37, 9
29. Bro - Dakari Johnson, 48, 19
30. GS - Jordan Mickey, 33, 3
Total score 136

From the Competition thread
1. Play just the first round to keep it simple
2. Scoring:
a. Formula: (31-Pick Number) * Number of spots difference between the player you picked and where he ended up getting picked
b. Interpretation: Higher scoring is worse and the top picks are weighed more than the picks at the bottom of the draft.
Nothing too fancy, but I think that should be fair.

1. Minnesota - Karl-Anthony Towns 1, 0
2. LA Lakers – D'Angelo Russell 2, 0
3. Philadelphia – Jahlil Okafor 3, 0
4. New York - Frank Kaminsky 9, 5
5. Orlando - Mario Hezonja 5, 0
6. Sacramento –Willie Cauley-Stein 6, 0
7. Denver Emmanuel Mudiay 7, 0
8. Detroit - Justise Winslow 10, 3
9. Charlotte - Kristaps Porzingis 4, 5
10. Miami - Devin Booker 13, 3
11. Indiana - Myles Turner 11, 0
12. Utah - Trey Lyles 12, 0
13. Phoenix -Stanley Johnson 8, 5
14. Oklahoma City - Cameron Payne 14, 0
15. Atlanta - Bobby Portis 23, 8
16. Boston -Kelly Oubre 15, 1
17. Milwaukee - Rashad Vaughn 17, 0
18. Houston - Tyus Jones 24, 6
19. Washington - Kevon Looney 30, 11
20. Toronto - Sam Dekker 18, 2
21. Dallas – Jerian Grant 19, 3
22. Chicago – RJ Hunter 28, 6
23. Portland – Rondae Hollis-Jefferson 23, 0
24. Cleveland –Montrezl Harrell 25, 1
25. Memphis – Justin Anderson 21, 4
26. San Antonio - Jarrell Martin 25, 1
27. LA Lakers - Christian Wood 61, 34
28. Boston - Nikola Milutinov 26, 2
29. Brooklyn - Terry Rozier 16, 13
30. Golden State - Chris McCullough 29, 1
Total: 114

The top picks are supposed to weigh more than the bottom picks but I am unsure how to calculate that because its actually Christian Woods who is killing. I went 8 for 12 in the first 12 picks so I need those extra points lol.

That was fun. It'd be interesting to see how some of the national "experts" did using this scoring system compared to our resident experts here.

I'm currently in Bulgaria on holiday. I will be back on Sunday and had planned to try to calculate people's scores. Props to you guys who have been proactive and already calculated your scores.

Can't believe Christian Wood went completely undrafted. Must have been an airhead in the interviews or something.

Missed this game entirely, damn. I would've had 100 according to the last Mock I posted on my blog. Bang on with Towns, Porzingis, Johnson, Kaminsky, Lyles, Payne, Oubre, Martin; way off with Powell, Rozier and Hernangomez.
