ESPN league, 10 teams, Head 2 Head/8 categories (no turnovers).
My picks (I had the 7th overall pick) by round
I'm trying to get Rondo to pair with Dwight but it's damn near impossible because the owner loves Rondo.
I'm trying to actively trade Kevin Martin and Stephen Jackson. I shouldn't have drafted Martin, but I panicked and now I realize I don't need hs FT% bc Dwight kills my FTs.
I'm also worried about Jrue Holiday, with Lou playing a lot of minutes.
Ratings/advice/tips are more than welcome!
1st round: Dwight Howard, C
2nd: Carmelo Anthony, SF
3rd: Kevin Martin, SG (the only pick I don't feel great about, but Kobe/Eric Gordon were already off the board and I already had a SF in Melo.)
4th: Jrue Holiday, PG
5th: Joe Johnson, SG/SF
6th: DeMarcus Cousins, PF/C
7th: Stephen Jackson, SG/SF
8th: Nene, C
9th: Jason Richardson, SG (traded for Marcus Thornton and Toney Douglas)
10th: Jose Calderon, PG (part of the above trade)
BENCH
11th: Jeff Teague, PG (dropped today for Andre Miller on WW, needed Andre's assists with Calderon gone)
12th: Paul George, SG/SF (Love this guy)
13th: Boris Diaw, PF/SF (dropped for Ryan Anderson after opening day when Anderson went off...smh Anderson is good but Diaw has been beasting).
SUNS/MAGIC/AZ CARDINALS/MICHIGAN WOLVERINES/ARIZONA WILDCATS

And mind rating another team for me?

Yahoo H2H 9 Cat (Standard + TOs)
PG: Russell Westbrook/Jason Kidd/Jose Calderon
SG: Ray Allen/Nick Young/Landry Fields/Jordan Crawford
SF: Melo
PF: David Lee/David West/Kris Humphries
C: Bogut/Okur/Kaman

ya hold on to tyreke for now, he has 0 value for the time being

dun remember the prior team of yours i rated but there must be better options than marvin williams. even if there isn't it's almost always better to have a good player, even if he's not providing in categories you need, than it is to have a sucky player giving moderate contributions in a needycat

you can drop crawford

be patient w/ okur.

your team's good, but maybe not great. no terrible picks except for maybe david west, who isn't goign to produce like he did in NO and was going too high (~55) for my liking. lee/west/humphries do too much of the same thing. melo looks like he could deliver a top 5 season thanks to the 3-pointers. except for the young/crawford combo i like your team. but young is a necessary evil w/ no scoring PGs like calderon/kidd (both of whom i like quite a bit)

C: DeMarcus Cousins (43)

Derrick Williams (98)
DeAndre Jordan (103)
Jameer Nelson (118)

you reached for ibaka, beasley, cousins. your team suffers big time because of that + foolishly taking rose over paul. that's a crappy excuse imo; chances are you were/are just a rose fanboy. fortunately it's not too bad cuz your league doesn't count TOs. it's defensible.

derrick williams is droppable. so is jameer nelson since you have 3 good PGs. here's the thing though: bad selections hurt your team more than good ones help it. germ theory dawg. you ruined your chances of competing w/ that cousins pick alone. he has 0 chance of returning top 50 value. zero. book it.

Jason Terry, Dal SG
John Wall, Wsh PG
Stephen Jackson, Mil SG, SF
Landry Fields, NY SG
Jerryd Bayless, Tor PG, SG
James Johnson, Tor SF

The rosters lock on a weekly basis, so I can only update before the first game of the week. I think I need a shooting gaurd rather than small forward, and was looking at trying to get a guy like james harden, but I dunno.

so far so good re: james johnson, which is good news for me because i pimped that dude to anyone who would listen.

your team has too many roster-killers. john wall, stephen jackson, john salmons. russell westbrook's a roster killer too but he's fine if he's your only one. your team's gonna be extremely up-and-down.

Trying to package John Wall + Diaw for a better SF/PF or another rebounder since its DREB + OREB.

Did I draft too many point guards?

TY!

you did well drafting your PGs cuz you also have SG eligibility. i was high on a miller coming into the season and so far he's proving me right. douglas has value until b-diddy comes back and the knicks foolishly play him. ellis/terry can be SGs too, and that's fine because you didn't draft any SGs aside form harden. boris diaw is such a rock.

you probably overdrafted ibaka like everyone else in the world. he and eric gordon got so overrated. good pickup on hawes. your bigs could use some work. consider wall expendable (but he'll prolly be hard to trade as soon as he proves he was overhyped, which he's already in the process of doing). harden is also trade bait.

PGS AND PF/CS!!! you can never have enough. cousins, s-jax atrocious picks. nene was the best pick of the draft. lol @ drafting j-rich. can't believe you traded him for that haul. well you traded him and calderon? you needed calderon. i guess.

Apathy, thanks for the feedback! I thought I didn't do very well in the draft, but didn't imagine it was this bad. At least considering the rankings I saw from yahoo, etc. Gordon no.20, Amare no.16: http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/nba/new ... l_rankings

This is an image with the draft results, should give you an idea of the other team's rosters: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1162723/draft.jpg

I actually traded Kevin Martin for Eric Gordon straight up after the draft(both taken in the 3rd round, Gordon ahead)... due to Martin's supposed issues with the team and... yes, the hype surrounding Gordon's status as go to guy in NO... I was sold on it. :-?

If I could pull Amare for Steph Curry, would that be a good deal? I've been offered Al Jefferson for Amare as well, from the owner who has Curry. I could try and get Deron Williams with Amare as well with some sort of package. Do you have any ideas of packages I could build in possible trades for a top PG? Cousins for Humphries, do you think that'd be a good one and possible?

Landry has been picked up. I am considering picking up James Johnson, is he worth using my #4 waiver priority? Someone dropped him before the game yesterday.

You can actually view this league: http://games.espn.go.com/fba/leagueoffi ... eId=131778 You can even check out the draft results I think. :) Looking back I understand that Evans was taken way too high, but to be frank, having no real fantasy experience, the PGs that fell to me at that time weren't too convincing, I also didn't prepare well enough for it and understand the roto concept perfectly...

Should I drop Jerebko for Okur still? I made a huge mistake because at the time of the draft I thought Kirilenko had signed with the Nets and wasted the 8th round pick on him. Let me know if you have any trade ideas or waiver wire moves. I'm going to read up about what you said about the games and how to manage those. I didn't think there was a problem playing players each day.

Thank you very much for your help and sorry if I am asking too many questions!

waiver priority is mostly useless. i'm extremely active so i use it sooner rather than later. grab JJ. he's a great fit for your team.

do amare for al jefferson. or amare for curry. you need curry more than jefferson. not particularly high on amare this year. doubt he sees 25ppg. he struggled post-melo. he's getting older and he had trouble w/ his back. he also turns it over a ton and may not blockas many shots playing PF and not C. deal him asap.

the problem with new orleans is they play a really slow pace. gordon's gonna lose out on 4-8 possessions per game as a result. big big problem. and as a very good but not great player masquerading as a no. 1 option, expect his percentages to drop and his TOs to go up. and finally, he's a big injury risk.

in roto leagues you have 66 games per slot. if you play everyone -- including your bench -- every game, you will max out soon. you want the best production per slot. your team will -- or should -- improve throughout the season. be patient and wait until you have good, productive players to maximize your slots. you may be low in the standings early on but it doesn't matter.

yes, get okur. i strongly believe in him. it may take 2-3 weeks but johan petro is terrible. okur will get minutes and eventually produce.

Do you believe Al Jefferson will be able to stay healthy/repeat last season's stats? The Jazz don't seem to have a set rotation or goal for this season... although it's only two games in. Perhaps I could try to get better value for Amare with the 'star factor' associated with him. I've been monitoring Gerald Wallace, Amare for him straight up or Josh Smith... would those be good deals for me? Westbrook? Deron? Should I try to get these guys that are seen as "struggling"? What sort of guy do you think I could attract with Cousins? I went for him basing myself on his supposed upside and playing time that he would have. Sorry for the many questions and if I'm pushing it. I'm open to trade ideas.

On the Roto league I should bench these guys like Budinger, Haywood, etc, until they are settled and productive? Early on I should only play the one who I know they'll produce? Any strategy on how to monitor games played so I don't end up not using tha maximum number of games or on the other hand exceeed it before season's end?

Again thank you for your help and time.

Can you guys help me out. This is my first crack at fantasy in about 10 yrs..

This was my draft: (10 team/H2H)
Standard 13 categories with turnovers and percentages (I'm already prepared to lose TOs and FG % based on my draft IMO)

(1)Lebron
(2)Josh Smith
(3)John Wall
(4)Zach Randolph
(5)Joe Johnson
(6)Tyreke Evans
(7)Andrew Bynum
(8)Ty Lawson
(9)Demarcus Cousins
(10)Jared Dudley
(11)Aaron Afflalo
(12)Caron Butler
(13)Marcus Camby
(14)Ed Davis

My team is pretty much:

PG:John Wall
SG:Joe Johnson
G: Ty Lawson
SF:Lebron
PF:Josh Smith
F: Zach Randolph
C: Andrew Bynum
C: Demarcus Cousins
Util: Tyreke Evans
Util: Jared Dudley
Bench: Marcus Camby
Bench: Aaron Afflalo
Bench: Caron Butler
Bench: Ed Davis

Given that I haven't played in awhile, I don't know if I need more interior guys or another PG??

I feel like I have one spot to definitely play with (Davis) and maybe two (Butler) or even three (Camby). These are the guys available on the wire who I'm interested in:

Amir Johnson, Spencer Hawes, Tyler Hansbrough if I want to go big

Andre Miller, Ramon Sessions, Jeff Teague, Brandon Knight if I need another PG

Then there is Johnson from the Raptors who's intriguing

Any insight would be appreciated (I know Apathy hates like half the guys I drafted, but I'm hoping I can still use the WW or swing a deal to make this team solid)

hawes has been playing great for me. id drop davis for him.
as far as pgs, drop tyreke. hes turn over prone and shoots a lousy fg%, but like you said in the beginning, you already know that. millers playing great as a 2nd string pg. had 2 doulble digit assist games and a handful of points on decent percentage. brandon knights a sleeper as well. had a break out game last night, but he'll probably be hot and cold thourhgout the season. im sure theres a butt load of people on here who know better than me. just my 2 cents.

Yeah, having Tyreke and Cousins is a headache. Them and Wall pretty much kill me in turnovers, but I lack quality bigs and Cousins at least hammers the boards, grabs a block, and can score a bit. I'm can't cut Tyreke at this point. Gotta stick with him and hope he shows some growth.

I'm leaning towards picking up Hawes. Also like Andre Miller, but do I want the entire Denver backcourt (Lawson, Afflalo, Miller)? Is there a negative to that?

I also don't know who to cut? Afflalo, Butler, Dudley seem a bit redundant, but I need some guys who can hit the three

Definitely need a second opinion on this money league. Rules as follows:

H2H
FGM +1
FGMI -1

Just did a trade sending DJ Augustin for Elton Brand. My team now looks like this:

PG: John Wall
SG: Marcus Thornton
G: Jrue Holiday
SF: LeBron James
PF: David Lee
F: Danilo Gallinari
C: Marcin Gortat
C: Roy Hibbert
Util: Elton Brand
Util: Tyrus Thomas
Bench: Kemba Walker
Bench: DeJuan Blair
Bench: Anthony Morrow

Any moves I can make to improve my team?

It's early, but Morrow looks totally lost and is already in Johnson's doghouse. Not worth keeping on your squad in my opinion given that he brings nothing but 3 pointers to the table and who knows when he's gonna start hitting those again.

14-team Traditional 9-cat league. I had pick #11

1. Amar'e Stoudemire
2. LaMarcus Aldridge
3. Ray Allen
4. Kevin Garnett
5. Marcus Thornton
6. D.J. Augustin
7. Antawn Jamison
8. Andre Miller
9. Ramon Sessions
10. Richard Hamilton
11. Spencer Hawes
12. JJ Redick
13. Marvin Williams

PG Augustin
SG Allen
G Thornton
SF Jamison
PF Garnett
F Hamilton
C Amar'e
C Aldridge
Util Miller
Util Sessions
BN Hawes
BN Redick
BN Williams

Only picks I really didn't like were Antawn and Sessions. Took Antawn because there wasn't really anyone else around him I really wanted, so more of a value pick. Took Sessions because I fell short grabbing the 3rd PG I wanted. I was hoping to get Darren Collison, but he was taken the pick before I made the Augustine pick.

Strengths: FG%, FT%, REB, 3PM, PTS
Average: BLK, TO
Weakness: AST, STL

Your thoughts?

***EDIT***

I should also mention that Rudy Fernandez and Mehmet Okur are on the FA list, in case you would prefer either of those over my end of bench guys.

Alright Apathy, I just made this trade so tell me what you (or anyone else) think of my team now. I think if I can get rid of S-JAX for a quality PG or SG like Billups then I'd be set. Let me know who/what else I need. And am I OK on big men after losing Cousins? I feel like Dwight compensates so much and Nene is a beast...Ed Davis/Amir Johnson/Hickson/Carl Landry/Brandon Knight/Ben Gordon are all on waivers also.
ESPN league, 10 teams, Head 2 Head/8 categories (no turnovers).
I traded Jrue Holiday, Kevin Martin, DeMarcus Cousins, Paul George and Toney Douglas FOR Westbrook (buy low after yesterday's 0-13 debacle), Eric Gordon, Rubio, and (dropping these last 2 guys, gonna be nice to not worry about my last 2 spots so I can constantly use the waiver wire) Jamal Crawford and Norris Cole.
My roster now:
PG: Westbrook
SG: Eric Gordon
SF: Carmelo Anthony
PF: Ryan Anderson
C: Dwight Howard
G: Marcus Thornton
F: Joe Johnson
UTIL: Nene
UTIL: Stephen Jackson (gonna try to trade him, probably for a PG/SG with PG skills)
UTIL: Andre Miller
BENCH: Rubio
BENCH: Jamal Crawford (will drop when trade gets processed)
BENCH: Norris Cole (will drop when trade gets processed)
SUNS/MAGIC/AZ CARDINALS/MICHIGAN WOLVERINES/ARIZONA WILDCATS

Would be nice if Apathy or anyone else would like to rate my team, give me advice, etc

ESPN League, 12 Teams, H2H, 9 Cat, Rule that every team must have at least 1 rookie.

PG: Jrue Holiday, DJ Augustin, Devin Harris, George Hill
SG: Marshon Brooks, Gary Neal
SF: Carmelo Anthony, Hedo Turkoglu
PF: Kevin Love, Dirk Nowitzki, Lamar Odom, Marreese Speights
C: Serge Ibaka, Mehmet Okur, Emeka Okafor

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Well, today was my first draft in fantasy basketball game, I hope this team is at least decent. What are your opinions? What to do next, Mr Apathy? (i've seen you're really good at it)

ESPN, Roto, 10 teams, 8 categories

PG: Jrue Holiday, Kyrie Irving, Mo Williams
SG/SF: Joe Johnson, Luol Deng, Demar DeRozan, Tony Allen, John Salmons
PF/C: Kevin Love, Al Horford, Marc Gasol, Carlos Boozer, Anderson Varejao

PG - Stephen Curry

F - Chris Bosh
C - David Lee
UTIL - Carlos Boozer
UTIL - Boris Diaw

BN - Elton Brand

My roommate did my draft as I was busy, I think he took too many bigs, and potential trades you can suggest to get more guards?
