Pick 7, H2H Standard 9-Cat. 12 Teams.

PG: Jeff Teague, 3rd
G: Pat Beverley, 8th
SG: Kemba Walker, 4th
SF: Carmelo Anthony, 1st
PF: Lamarcus Aldridge, 2nd
F: Tim Duncan, 5th
C: Marcin Gortat, 7th
Util: Terrence Jones, 6th
Util: Trey Burke, 9th
Util: Draymond Green, 10th
Bench: Timofey Mozgov, 11th
Bench: Alec Burks, 12th
Bench: Samuel Dalembert, 13th

If my thinking is correct I think I need a 4th guard who can give me a few more assists. Thoughts on Pat Beverley (not sure how I feel about him, I took him in the 8th cause I know he is a starter who will get minutes)?
Does it make sense to give up one of my bigs ie. Gortat for a mid tier PG or even Melo/Aldridge for a top tier PG? Maybe move Beverley as well?

Thanks I appreciate it!

What are your thoughts about my team, I just drafted in 16-team H2H league with classic duels in 9 stats?

PG: Tony Parker, Isaiah Thomas
SG: Jamal Crawford, Jarrett Jack
SF: Nicolas Batum, Terrence Ross
PF: Blake Griffin, Zach Randolph, Ryan Anderson
C: Brook Lopez, Nikola Pekovic

Exum, Asik, Waiters, McDermott, Foye, M. Barnes, Wroten, Brewer, Stauskas, T. Thompson, both Plumlees, H. Barnes, Morrow, MKG, Shumpert, McLemore, Garnett, Granger, Miles, Splitter, Henderson, Warren, Felton, Copeland are the main guy left on the FA list.

I guess I should trade one of my PFs for SG/SF, Isaiah could be a real turnover killer too maybe. What are your thoughts?

dilbert719 wrote:So, I just picked my team in a 10-man draft. Yahoo, standard categories, H2H. Obviously I got stupid lucky that people panicked when Durant got hurt, but did I go too old with the roster, in general? Should I look to grab some FAs instead?

1. (4) Chris Paul (LAC - PG)
2. (13) Kevin Durant (OKC - SF,PF)
3. (20) Dirk Nowitzki (Dal - PF,C) (Lost Drummond the pick before me)
4. (29) Goran Dragic (Pho - PG,SG) (Klay Thompson went 3 picks before)
5. (36) Derrick Rose (Chi - PG)
6. (45) Tim Duncan (SA - PF,C)
7. (52) Kenneth Faried (Den - PF) (Favors went one pick before)
8. (61) Nerlens Noel (Phi - PF,C)
9. (68) Lance Stephenson (Cha - SG,SF)
10. (77) Zach Randolph (Mem - PF,C)
11. (84) Joe Johnson (Bkn - SG,SF)
12. (93) Andrew Wiggins (Min - SF)
13. (100) Isaiah Thomas (Pho - PG)

Top 5 FA at each position (noting duplicates, but skipping them to get more names):

PG - Ja. Crawford, Collison, Chalmers, E. Payton, B. Knight (Burke, Smart, and Exum also out there)
SG - D. Green, Antetokounmpo, (Ja. Crawford,) Iguodala, B. Knight, Manu
SF - (D. Green, Greek Freak) Ilyasova, (Iguodala), Dray Green, Barnes, Gallinari, D. Carroll
PF - J. Hill, McRoberts, (Ersan), Frye, Sullinger, Boozer (Gordon, Randle, Henson, Asik all out there)
C - (Hill/McR) Bogut, (Frye), Olynyk, (Sullinger, Boozer), H. Sims, Mozgov, Dieng (this is a wasteland, aside from swing guys like Varejao and the aforementioned Henson and Asik.)

Obviously Durant at 13 is excellent value if you can hang in your league until he gets back to form. Overall this is a very high upside team when healthy but there's a lot of injury risk. Duncan at 45 was a bit of a reach. I expect Pop to rest him a ton this year as he usually does - so you'll have to keep an eye on when he gets a game off throughout the season.

I think 3pt shooting (until Durant returns) and blocks are your biggest concern. Obviously Drummond, Favors and Klay would have been perfect fits for that - unlucky! Noel and Wiggins are unproven, but showed some shot blocking in the pre-season so hopefully they continue that in the regular season.

12 team h2h with the scoring based heavily on fgs made, 3pt made, ft made, with all 3 % counted as well. Pretty much a guard set up.

Curry
Thompson
Hayward
J. Parker
Dirk
Faried
Ryan Anderson (listed PF and Center sweet)
Lin
Gallinari
McRoberts
Frye
Ross

I should have plenty of 3's and a high ft %. However I have already been offered a trade which I am not sure about. Thompson and Lin for Durant and Asik. Rebounds and blocks are not that important in this league and I am not sure my roster is strong enough to hold out for Durant to get back. Any suggestions if I should take that deal or hold pat for now?

whats the point of playing in an 8 team league? teams are so stacked it just seems pointless to me but to each their own i guess.

anyways its hard to rate how strong your team is since i imagine everyone in your league is stacked. you should consider punting ft%/threes since your team is perfectly setup around lebron to do that, outside of a few guys. definitely trade lillard if you do that for an elite big, cuz youre lacking severely in blocks right now for such a small league. afflalo is another that you would definitely have to move on as well, plus hes just not as likable as last season. parsons would be another player to look at moving on since threes are such a big part of his value, but you can still keep him because of his all around numbers and weak ft%.

also just drop dieng, hes not worth owning until pek goes down.

Yahoo H2H, 9 cat, 8 teams, had the 5th pick.
My team:
PG: Curry.
SG: Wes Matthews.
G: John Wall.
SF: Thad Young.
PF: Blake Griffin.
F: Al Horford.
C: Nerlens Noel
C: Derrick Favors.
UTIL: Deron Williams.
UTIL: Tyreke Evans.
BN: Tobias Harris.
BN: Marcin Gortat.
BN: Roy Hibbert.

I'm thinking of maybe dropping Harris and picking up Frye, and possibly ditching Hibbert if he continues to **** the bed.

Thoughts?

You definitely need another blocker to your arsenal. Consider Mason Plumlee, Mozgov or even KJ McDaniels who impressed in pre-season, to round out your roster.

i dunno about 8 team leagues but hibbert will be better, if only for the fact that he will be produce monster block numbers that can carry your team. with no PG someone has to step up, so the opportunity is there for Hibbert to be useful.

drop hawes, hes not worth owning.

im confused as to why you bought lillard. his biggest value is in threes and ft%, while your other guards and wings dont hit threes at all and have rather poor ft%. not to mention you have drummond who will tank whatever positive value lillard provides. your other guards really compliment a drummond/jeff front line but not lillard.

youre gonna have to punt threes/ft% but thats okay cuz you have one of the best players for doing that in drummond.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. You really think Hawes is that bad eh? He was one of my last picks, only spent a couple bucks on him. Lillard was my first pick for $43, below his average value, but changed my strategy after winning bids on Jefferson/Bosh/Drummond. Who would you recommend I look to deal Lillard for? Much appreciated!

nah Hawes was a monster last year but that was in the up tempo free for all that was Philly. everyone that got minutes got numbers playing in that system. bball monster actual did a nice write up of why hes not worth owning:
Spencer Hawes, FC, LAC - It was just a year ago that we were touting Hawes as a sleeper, but things have changed a lot since as he's moved on from the friendly confines of the Sixers offense to a new locale. There are nothing but good things to say about the Clippers' signing of Hawes from a non-fantasy perspective. He's a clear upgrade to their bench and his versatility should allow him to pair well with either Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. But things aren't so rosy for fantasy purposes. Griffin and Jordan averaged 35.8 and 35 minutes per game last season, respectively, and the pair has missed a combined six games over the past four seasons. How many minutes will realistically be available for Hawes, particularly if coach Doc Rivers gives at least occasional playing time to Glen Davis and/or Ekpe Udoh? Hawes was truly superb in a career-high 31 minutes per game last season, but he'll be hard-pressed to make an impact in standard leagues while playing closer to 20 minutes on most nights.

as for lillard, i would say it depends on what you feel you need in relation to other teams. if you want some more big man stats try to get favors, hes gonna be a monster this year. Deandre and Noel are good targets too if you can overcome the low point total from them and drummond. if you can add more value Horford fits perfectly onto your team as well. if you want some guard/wing play, Wade is a monster in punt three/ft%, and theres no reason for him to be rested this year like seasons past since miami will need him to get wins. Stephenson is nice too if you want the counting stats but i think hes a bit overrated. Monta is also really nice too since he hits like 1 three a game and is a monster in steals. if u want more assists then Rubio is an obvious target as well just be careful with the turnovers when you combine him with MCW and Rondo.

I'd appreciate some feedback on my draft (9-cat, 12-team league). I picked 4th, but traded picks 4/21 for 3/22 to grab Curry/Lowry. Thanks!

1. (3) Stephen Curry (GS – PG,SG)
2. (22) Kyle Lowry (Tor – PG)
3. (28) Al Horford (Atl – PF,C) [Dirk was on the bored, it was a tough call but I needed reb/blk]
4. (45) Ricky Rubio (Min – PG) [Maybe a reach, but elite ast/stl numbers]
5. (52) Wesley Matthews (Por – SG,SF) [Regret not taking DeRozan here]
6. (69) Jonas Valanciunas (Tor – C) [Big run on C's, figured Val won't fill my FT%]
7. (76) Terrence Jones (Hou – SF,PF)
8. (93) Reggie Jackson (OKC – PG,SG)
9. (100) Andrew Bogut (GS – C) [Desperate for reb/blk. When healthy he'll beast.]
10. (117) Josh McRoberts (Mia – PF,C)
11. (124) Kelly Olynyk (Bos – C) [Don't love this pick]
12. (141) Miles Plumlee (Pho – PF,C)
13. (148) Rudy Gobert (Uta – C)
14. (165) Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (Det – SG)
15. (172) Otto Porter Jr. (Was – SF)

What's not to like about olynyk? Him and Sullinger are primed for breakout seasons. If anything the pick u shouldn't like is the one after, mason will be the only plumlee brother worth owning this season imo.

I don't like Valanciunas either but maybe that's because I owned him in so many leagues last season thinking he would breakout

Appreciate the feedback! Agree, I'm not a fan of Miles but I'm hoping he can be a source of blocks, especially since Frye is gone.
